Hi all, Well now that I'm back at the farm, guess it's time to get back into writing my newsletter. Not sure if I can remember it all since it's been so long. I just spent the last hour 2 hours on it, hit the view post button, and did something wrong cause the whole darn thing got lost. Whaaa! So now I have to start over. Oh dear! Think I'll make this issue short and sweet. So, let's get on with it. Again!!!! Thanks, Janet ***************************** > Humor > Resources > Neat Links > Trivia > Article > Free Ads > Contest > Ezines I Read > Ad Swap Requests ****************************** Humor What kind of doctor fixes broken websites? A URLologist A man left the snow-filled streets of Chicago for a vacation in Florida. His wife was on a business trip and was planning to meet him there the next day. When he reached his hotel, he decided to send his wife a quick e-mail. Unable to find the scrap of paper on which he had written her e-mail address, he did his best to type it in from memory. Unfortunately, he missed one letter and his note was directed instead to an elderly preacher's wife, whose husband had passed away only the day before. When the grieving widow checked her e-mail, she took one look at the monitor, let out a piercing scream, and fell to the floor in a dead faint. Hearing the scream, her family rushed into the room and saw this note on the screen: "Dearest Wife, Just got checked in. Everything prepared for your arrival tomorrow. P.S. It sure is hot down here! ***************************** Resources WordWeb This utility could well help improve your writing skills. The success was especially evident when 15,000 customers lined up on opening day in 1994 in Kuwait City. The line at the drive-thru window was seven miles long. The worlds largest McDonalds is over I-44 in Vinita, Oklahoma. It goes from one side of the interstate to the other, passing over the interstate. MCDONALD'S RESTAURANT Richard and Maurice McDonald founded McDonald??™s Restaurant in 1948 in San Bernadino, California. Des Plaines, Illinois is home to Ray Kroc's first McDonald's restaurant (1955). He signed a franchise agreement with Dick and Mac McDonald, who had opened their restaurant in 1948 in San Bernardino, California. Before setting up the McDonald's fast-food restaurant chain, Ray Kroc was a high school dropout, ambulance driver, jazz pianist, Florida real-estate salesman, radio station manager, and paper cup salesman. McDonald's fast food restaurant opened its training school, Hamburger University, in Oak Brook, Illinois in 1961. The first drive up McDonald's was opened in 1975. McDonald??™s introduced Chicken McNuggets in 1983. The Big Mac was introduced in 1968. The price was 49 cents. In 1999 there were more than 25,000 McDonald's in 115 countries. McDonald's uses about 7% of the potatoes grown in the United States for its French fries. They sell more than 1/3 of all the French fries sold in restaurants in the U.S. each year. (2003) Montpelier, Vermont is the only U.S. state capital without a McDonald??™s. (2003) Email received on 12/19/2003 from Ronald L. McDonald, the nephew of the original founders of McDonald??™s: Dear James, I really enjoy your site and find it informative. I am also happy to see that in the Who's Who section you have my family listed. So often I have to rant and rave to inform people that Richard & Maurice McDonald conceived and started McDonald's and not Ray Kroc (one of our employees for 5 years). As a matter of interest I am also active in the industry for the past 40 years and still do a lot of consulting to start up chains. My last book "The Complete Hamburger" was published by Birch Lane Press and next year I have Ronald McDonald's Franchise Buyers Guide and Ronald McDonald's International Burger Book. I am just finishing the first of a new series: The Great American Hot Dog Book. Keep helping the world to understand food history, That??™s Great. PS: I have a new web site coming out myself ronaldmcdonald-author.com Sincerely, Ronald L. Don't be shy, if you liked something in the newsletter say so. If you didn't like something in the newsletter say so. 2) Enter Contests: Don't think that just because there are so many subscribers to the newsletter you don't have a chance of winning. That's not so! Just this week I won 3 contests for Top Ads. Can't win if you don't play! 3) Sign Guest Books: It only takes a minute and whomever's guest book you sign will more than likely visit your site.
