Dear
friends,
With last week's issue being a bit long and technical, I've decided
to do something a little different this week. Something that offers
more fun for all of us. It includes a story and a bit of mystery,
mixed with fun with the latest technology, and also, some interaction
on your part. Ultimately, facilitation that includes even some of
these attributes is bound to be interesting. Considering that some
stages of group process can slow things down, or add a new kind
of tension to a group, throwing in some humor and play along the
way can be very therapeutic.
A couple of weeks ago, I got a chance to connect with Michael Port
and we spoke about keys to creating remarkable projects. Michael's
charisma and insights into the "inner" aspects of creating
and managing winning projects got me excited about inviting him
to an expert interview for FacilitatorU. I believe his insights
are useful for us as we often are called on to help guide leaders
in project management and design. I believe you'll find his insights
very useful and inspiring. Please see details below and join us
next Thursday, February 10th.
Finally, please join us for our 10-week personal foundation class
starting next Tuesday the 8th. This program will help you polish
and strengthen your core for a strong foundation on which to build
and enhance your life, whereever you may be along your path. Please

| The
Point |
As I was hiking through the Himalaya this weekend, the thought came to
me, as it often does when I'm away from my work and out in the beauty
of nature: What new and exciting ideas can I offer my MFJ readers in the
future? Now you may be thinking that this is a strange thing to be doing
while tromping through ice in the stratopheric heights of northern Tibet.
But I'm quite sure that reflections come to you, though often unbidden,
bringing fresh insights to toilings of your workaday life.
No sooner had my ponderings began when from out of the foggy haze, a sublime
figure began to emerge. It appeared to be a man perched on a ledge overlooking
the most magical of vistas. He was an obviously refined being, appearing
completely out of place. Wearing only the most modest of attire, he appeared
quite comfortable in this frigid air.
I was startled at first, but looking into his eyes, I was reassured that
this was a pleasant and peaceful being. He beckoned me closer with a wave
of his hand. Reluctantly, but with great curiosity, I consented to his
gestures and walked up to meet him. He greeted me with a simple but warm
"Hello." His voice and appearance was striking and other worldly.
He told me he was the "Master Facilitator" of the Himalayas,
summoned into existence by the strength of my internal inquiry, and that
he could answer any question I had. So, I began asking....

The Master Facilitator has consented to share his wisdom with each of
you, my dear readers. So please go visit him here.
Ask him any question you would like about group process or facilitation,
then wait for his reply. Though he is a very wise being, he is still learning
some of our ways of expression and inquiry. Therefore, if your answer
is unsatisfactory or beyond his current understanding, please return a
few days later with the same question as he's liable to have a better
answer by then.
If you wouuld like to access the Master Facilitator, Master Problem Solver,
or any other kind of master, "live" in your groups, simply assign
this role to a volunteer and ask him or her your questions. The "Master"
must simply hold in their consciousness an expectant curiosity about what
might come out of their mouth and speak without thinking to the group's
requests. You may be surprised at what transpires by shifting from the
limited capacity of your rational mind to "think" of the answer,
to the far higher ability of your subsconsious to delivery cogent wisdom.

| Action |
Visit the Master Facilitator and ask him a question and/or try the "Master"
exercise in your group. We'd love to hear what you think.
Please send
us your comments.

7 Simple Rules For Producing
Remarkable Projects
Keys to facilitating the
design, management, and commitment to projects that
inspire and surpass expectations

Author, Speaker, and Trainer

"Just in Time" Learning
The
future is uncertain therefore we can't determine a result we can only
create circumstances for navigating to a result. The building of a business
is the successful completion of one project after another. Join Michael
Port and Steve
Davis for this live, one-hour teleclass Thursday,
February 10th at 1:00 PM EST (NY Time), where we'll discuss
the following seven simple rules that will help you create circumstances,
for yourself and for your clients, for navigating
to remarkable projects...
Bring your passion to the project. When creating something
new, we’re faced with problems, seeming insurmountable barriers
and circumstances that are out of our control. During these times, our
passion and personal investment in the project is what carries us through
to completion. How do you facilitate passion for your project?
Work with others. At the earliest possible moment you’ve
got to bring people in as you are developing the project. If you work
with others… you will wind up with something far greater than you
could alone. If this is a tough one ask yourself whether you are committed
to having something truly great or just getting it your way? Who do you
want to work with on your next project?
Call on your talents. Your work on a project is a way
to showcase your talents. When you utilize your talents, the quality of
the product really shines through. If you really want to create remarkable
projects, work from your talents and your passion will shine through.
What talents are you ready to showcase?
Develop habits of fulfilling commitments. Progress depends
on the successful completion of promises. Create a routine that is appropriate
for the project that has people coming together making promises to each
other. The work that I promise to complete today allows you to start your
task tomorrow. The downfall of not doing this is one breakdown after another.
What will you commit to today and what do you promise to deliver?
Tightly couple learning with action. One of the things
that keeps people from getting on with their projects is that they think
they need to know something before they start, instead of learning in
action. The future belongs to the learner not the learned. What do you
want to learn?
Have clear intentions. As the saying goes, if you don’t
know where you’re going, any road will take you there. The same
thing applies to producing projects. In order to have clear outcomes you
need to have clear intentions about what you want to accomplish. What
do you intend to create?
Have a compelling story for you product. Projects never
go the way you expect they are going to go! Keeping your passion and your
focus depends on telling and re-telling the story of your project, and
why it matters to you and others. On a grander scale it is your vision
and purpose rolled into one. It will become increasingly important as
you face problems, setbacks or any type of project breakdown. Story telling
is a tool of leadership, and the way you engage others in your project.
It's the way you maintain your mood when things go wrong. Being able to
articulate and rearticulate the story of the project is essential. What’s
your story?
Any questions you have about designing remarkable projects.
