What’s On When?

Are you ready to try something new?  Looking for events happening in your local area or somewhere you’re planning to visit?  Visit the website What’s On When to find events ranging from your back yard to across the world.  Happenings are arranged by month, city, and theme and include events, attractions, and city guides.  Search tip: if you are searching by location enter either the city OR the state, but not both for more search results.  Find something to do at www.whatsonwhen.com

Shoes for the Soul

Making a difference in someone else’s life is as easy as reaching into your closet and grabbing a pair of shoes you don’t wear anymore.  Soles4Souls collects gently worn shoes and distributes them to qualified charities to be given to individuals.  According to Soles4Souls it is estimated that Americans have 1.5 billion pairs of unworn shoes lying in their closets.  They want to “use each and every one of [those] pairs to make a tangible difference in someone's life.”  Since October 2006 they have distributed product to people in need in over 40 countries on 5 continents, including the U.S., Honduras, Guatemala, Haiti, Dominican Republic, Swaziland, Sudan, Uganda, Romania, Iraq, Peru, Thailand, and Nepal.  Reach into your closet and make a difference.  For more information, visit the website at www.soles4souls.org

Free Wi-Fi

If you are looking for free Wi-Fi, visit the Wi-Fi Free Spot Directory.  The list includes airports, hotels, companies with multiple locations, and even RV parks and campgrounds that offer free wireless internet access.  Locations are broken out by state and by region outside of the United States.  This is a great resource for making sure you’ll be able to keep in touch with the people at home while on your next vacation. www.wififreespot.com

On the Go

If you’re not listening to audio books while you commute, what are you waiting for?   If you commute for one hour a day (total), you are spending 260 hours a year in your car commuting to work – that’s equal to 32.5 days! Why waste it?

Regardless of your political affiliation or views, Bill Clinton’s book Giving is worth listening to.  It is only five discs long but is chock full of information about how everyday individuals can make a difference in the world.  Just the stories of what others have done make this book worth listening to.  Check it out from your local library.
