Are We Prepared?

What an emotional and moving story of James Kim a senior editor of CNET. After thanksgiving when James Kim and his family were returning from Oregon where they were vacationing, they took a wrong turn and it put them in trouble forever. James Kim, his wife Kati and their two daughters, four years and seven months old were stranded in rugged, snowy mountains for more than a week. When the rescue team reached their car they only found Kati and the two daughters. Kati told the authorities that James left two days back to find help. Later the search and rescue team recovered his body. Before he died, he had walked 10.24 miles. It was remarkable that he could walk this long distance in a very cold frigid weather of below zero temperature. He died because of hypothermia due to excessive exposure to cold. He had no proper clothing for this type of weather. But he could have survived if he had been prepared for this type of weather and situation and if he had snow boots, hat, warm cloths and heavy jacket on him.

When he started for vacation, he might never have thought that those days could turn out to be the last days of his life. He was not even prepared to face snow storm or extreme cold whether.

How important it is to be prepared in our life’s journey too. I have seen people who are not at all worried about eternity. Many live as if they are going to live for eternity in this world itself. Often people argue saying, “We have to worry about everyday living how to bring food to the table, how to feed the family, then where is time to think about eternity or life after death?” Many are just worried about making money and more money. Many are engaged in drinking parties and merry making. But are we prepared to face the day that will come in everyone’s life – the day of death?

Jesus said in John 3:16, "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” Just by believing in Jesus and walking in His ways, we can avoid eternal death. Jesus came in this world to give us everlasting life and it is available free of cost. It would not hurt if you just take the free gift of God. May God help you to receive the gift of everlasting life in this Christmas season.

Please pray this prayer with me if you want to receive the free gift of everlasting life:

Lord Jesus, I confess all my sins before you. Please forgive and forget all my sins and wash me with your precious blood. Today, I accept you as my Lord and Savior. Come into my life and help me to live a holy life acceptable to you. When I close my eyes in this world help me to open my eyes in your bosom. Thank you Lord for listening to my prayers and giving me everlasting life. I give you all the glory and honor. I pray this prayer in Jesus name, Amen.

Standing in the Gap - Fasting prayer on 9th Jan. 2007

 
As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month. Our next fasting prayer meeting will be conducted on 9th Jan. 2007
