The Companies Act, 1956 is more than fifty years old. It has been amended number of times by Companies Amendment Acts and also by various other enactments. A proposal to replace the Act is also on the anvil.   Such proposals have come up before Parliament number of times in the past. But due to one reason or other such proposals have not fructified. It may take some time for the current proposal to fructify.
