Amazing Alcohol

A simple cleaner that kills germs around the house
Rubbing alcohol not only makes an amazingly simple cleaner,
but it kills nasty germs around your house in the process.
Rubbing alcohol is not just for medicinal purposes anymore; it
can be used in all sorts of practical and cleaning
applications around the home. Much cheaper than other cleaners
(most drug stores and discount stores carry 16 ounce bottles
of 70% rubbing alcohol for under $1), rubbing alcohol works
just as well.
Use rubbing alcohol to:
1. Clean your dry erase boards with a cloth or paper towel
dampened with rubbing alcohol. The alcohol removes the buildup
from stubborn dry-erase markers.
2. Use alcohol to clean grimy phones, switch plates and
doorknobs. Not only will the alcohol remove the oily dirt and
dust, but it will also kill germs on these frequently handled
areas.
3. Do dust and dirt collect on your tabletops? Wipe them down
with a cloth saturated with rubbing alcohol to uncover a great
shine. (Alcohol may not be suitable as a cleaner for all
tabletop finishes, so be sure to do a spot test first!)
4. Need to keep an ice pack on hand for those sudden
emergencies? Build your own inexpensive model by filling a
freezer bag with one part alcohol and two parts water. Label
it well, and pop it in the freezer. The rubbing alcohol will
keep the water from freezing into an unmanageable block. When
needed, the ice pack will have a moldable slushy form, which
is perfect for forming around skinned knees and elbows and the
odd-sized lump left behind after an unfortunate tumble.
5. Have any dusty decorative candles stored away? Before
lighting, wipe the dust away with a cloth dampened with
rubbing alcohol. The alcohol removes the dust without ruining
the wick, as water often does. Be sure to let the alcohol
evaporate completely before lighting the candles!
6. Use rubbing alcohol on a soft cloth to remove grime from
household fixtures. The alcohol will leave behind a nice
shine.
7. Remove fresh ink stains by blotting with rubbing alcohol.
This procedure also often works to remove permanent marker
stains on carpet.
8. Rubbing alcohol makes a terrific, streak-free window and
glass cleaner. Just dampen a cloth with a 50% mixture of water
and alcohol and wipe glass clean.
Do remember that, although rubbing alcohol makes a fabulous,
inexpensive cleaner, it is considered extremely flammable. To
avoid any potential problems, make sure that you store rubbing
alcohol in a cool, dry place away from anything that emits
heat and/or sparks.

Prepackaged cut and washed salads and veggies can be great for
fast work night dinners, but they often go bad before you can
use the whole package up. Try tucking a couple of paper towels
inside the package and tightly rolling the package to store.
The moisture that usually causes the greens to rot is soaked
up by the paper towels and new moist air stays out of the
package. The next time you use some, remove the damp paper
towels and replace with dry ones. Your greens will last a lot
longer.

**Beefy Baked Ravioli**

INGREDIENTS:
1 pound ground beef
1/2 (25 ounce) package frozen cheese ravioli
1 (14 ounce) jar spaghetti sauce
1 (14.5 ounce) can diced tomatoes, drained
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
1 tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese
DIRECTIONS:
Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F (230 degrees C).
Crumble the ground beef into a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook and stir until no longer pink. Drain grease, then stir in the spaghetti sauce and tomatoes. Spread 1/3 of the sauce in the bottom of an 11x7 inch baking dish. Arrange 1/2 of the ravioli over the sauce. Sprinkle 1/2 of the mozzarella cheese and 1/2 of the Monterey Jack cheese over the ravioli. Repeat layers, ending with the last of the sauce on top. Cover with aluminum foil. Bake for 30 minutes in the preheated oven. Sprinkle Parmesan cheese over the top before serving.

**Three Cheese Baked Pasta**

"Mozzarella, provolone and Parmesan cheeses are layered with cooked pasta, tart sour cream and tomato sauce flavored with onions and ground meat to make a deliciously hearty casserole."
INGREDIENTS:
1 pound uncooked pasta
1 pound ground beef
1 onion, chopped
6 1/2 cups tomato pasta sauce
6 ounces provolone cheese, thinly sliced
1 1/2 cups sour cream
6 ounces mozzarella cheese,
shredded
1/2 cup grated Parmesan
cheese
DIRECTIONS:
1. Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Cook pasta in boiling water until al dente. Drain.
2. Meanwhile, cook ground meat and onion in a skillet over medium heat, stirring frequently, until meat is browned. Stir in pasta sauce, reduce heat, and simmer for 15 minutes.
3. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish. Layer the ingredients in the prepared baking dish as follows: half of the cooked pasta, all the provolone cheese, all the sour cream, half of the sauce mixture, remaining pasta, mozzarella cheese, and remaining sauce mixture. Top with grated Parmesan cheese.
4. Bake in preheated oven for 30 minutes, or until bubbly.
