WRITING TIPS--

Starting with this issue, I would like to include a few essential
writing tips that have led to my own success as a writer, and may
well lead to yours:

Great talent may not be necessary to be a successful writer.
Writing successfully requires hard work, stern discipline,
dedication to craft, and faith in yourself--all of which must be
developed, cultivated and nurtured in order to ultimately grow
anything for harvesting.

SPEAKING--

Still meeting myself coming and going.  Within the past month,
I've not only been writing and running my ranch, but have also
spoken at: TULSA NIGHTWRITERS on qualities required to reach
success as a writer; RED DIRT BOOK FESTIVAL at Shawnee, Oklahoma,
an annual event where I spoke two days on Freelance Journalism;
Senior Citizens Center at Okay, Oklahoma.

WORK--
 In addition to traveling a bunch this summer, I ve also been meeting myself
coming in and out the front door.  I m currently working on the following
books: GOD IN THE FOXHOLE (Pocket), the final production editing; SANCTUARY
(Medallion), a SciFi, my second; possible new action-adventure Christian series
(Tyndale); a nonfiction book on all our soldiers who keep being charged with
murder in Iraq; DEVOTED TO FISHING (AWOC); the Sasquatch book. . . And a number
of other ideas and possible projects.  I m also writing a number of magazine
articles for: LOST TREASURE; SOLDIER OF FORTUNE; BACKPACKER; MATURE LIVING. . .
 It s a tough way to make a living, traveling and writing, but somebody has to
do it.  I always thank God that I m allowed to do it.

LATE EDITION

Forgive this newsletter being late this month--but I've been gone
quite a bit for the past couple of months.  Bigfoot research,
Canadian fishing trip, Arizona backpacking to study Anasazi
ruins.  Plus deadline editing on two new books.

Wonderful fishing.  Caught a float plane into a remote lake with
old friends of mine, and with my grandson Cassidy Cagle.  This

BIGFOOT BOOK --

In research for our book about Bigfoot (AKA Sasquatch), Dan Case
and I have so far traveled all over the West and Southwest and
interviewed scores of people.  We've been invited to a Bigfoot
Conference in Texas, and I've accepted an invitation to accompany
a Bigfoot expedition in Washington State during which calls,
bait, cameras and other sophisticated methods will be used in an
effort to capture Bigfoot on film.  Sounds like great fun.

How's this for a Bigfoot story: In 2001, a 68-year-old woman
reporter for the Mena (Arkansas) Star newspaper was visiting the
