Teleclass: Reconnecting with Safe, Happy Feelings

Hi !

For many of us, our bodies have been a source of pain and conflict. Last week we discussed some of the reasons for this. If you missed the call, don't worry, it was recorded. Deepak Chopra, in Ageless Body, Timeless Mind says, "Intelligence is present everywhere in our bodies... Our inner intelligence is far superior to any we can try to substitute from the outside." If we're not connected to our body, we miss most of that wisdom. In this week's teleclass, we'll be tapping on some of the fear issues that come up around reconnecting, and we'll do exercises to help you connect with your inner power and to rebuild your ability to experience safe, happy feelings. (For some of us, it's not as easy! EFT can help.)

Here's an exercise for you to try:

Sit somewhere comfortable, and relax. Take a deep breath in and out.

Notice your weight in the chair... the texture of the support against your body. Become aware that it is holding you up, and you don't need to put effort into it.

As you relax, notice if you feel more sensations from your body. (We often tune out because of stress or inattention.)

Imagine something somewhat stressful, and monitor how the body sensations change. (Some of us become more numb. Some may feel less present in the body. Your muscles may ache or tense. Just notice your personal reaction.)

Imagine something wonderful, like snuggling a kitten if you like cats, and notice how your muscles relax and how the support of the chair feels. When focusing on a positive experiences, most people will be more aware of the chair, their weight, their bodies. The muscles may shift to feeling more warm and relaxed.

Noticing the contrast between how you feel when focusing on stress or focusing on pleasure helps you tune into your body's intelligence... Body YES's and NO's:

Everyone has blocks in some situations to being fully present. In the teleclass, we'll cover ways to open communication with those parts that are blocked, tap away the resistance we feel in particular situations, and allow ourselves to be happily present...
