Real Solutions For Living Newsletter Volume 2 Issue 1 Winter 2008 from: Nancy www.realsolutionsforliving.com How are Those Resolutions Comin' Along? Did you know that more than one in three Americans break their resolutions by the end of January (according to the Journal of Clinical Psychology)? I'd like to challenge those of you who made, or thought of making, a resolution to get organized in 2008. First, be sure your goal is a realistic one. Break it up into smaller goals so it will be easier to manage. Second, tell someone of your intentions. Yep! It's good to have someone to hold you accountable and to cheer you on. Third, no matter how much you may want to throw in the towel and call it quits, don't! Remember - "success consists of getting up just one more time than you fall". Fourth, reward yourself for each achievement, no matter how small, that you make towards your goal. And finally, remember why you had that goal. Why was it so important to you to begin that journey? Organizing Tip How about starting the year with an organized filing system? If you haven't already done so, now's the time to remove all 2007 papers from your files. Whether your files consists of collecting papers in bags, boxes, or actual folders, the following still applies. The only paperwork that should remain in your "filing system" are papers that are current or may be needed for referral within the year. This would be your insurance policies, credit card agreement, and such. The items being removed are monthly statements, bills that were paid, and anything from '07 you will not need to reference in the near future. Take the items removed and put them in a container marked "2007 papers". Should you come across anything that you will need for filling out your '07 taxes, put those aside in a folder or envelope labeled "'07 taxes". Now you should have the space to welcome the deluge of papers that 2008 will bring. Repeat this each year to keep your files under control.
