Long time, no newsletter! Been a hectic summer for both of us on a personal and musical level, but the fall means a return to normal. Hopefully. No new media this month, but we have some shows coming up next month, plus we are continuing work on new material. More to come, we promise!

Betcha thought I was dead, eh?
Well, the beginning of September and the beginning of fall mark the end of a rather rough summer. Seems like it was non-stop work and focus on things not really Endless Blue. Oh, and a nice dose of World of Warcraft never helps...
The major event that has now passed was my guest appearance with the Swedish synthpop band Moulin Noir at SLC2K6 this year. I jammed out on keys this last Saturday, and it went quite well (apart from Anders losing his voice due to a nasty cold). Learning an entire set of music for another band on an instrument you've never really played live before was a particularly daunting task. It sucked up a lot of time and energy, forcing me to put EB on the back burner for a little while.
In the end, though, it was 100% worth every moment. Dissecting another artist's music is always very, very enlightening and inspiring. The same thing happend right around when Laura and I formed Endless Blue -- we were both working with another producer as a side project for our main band STATE4. Doing this really opened up my ears to what makes good "pop" music, and what makes a good song. Working with Moulin Noir gave me a fresh perspective on my songwriting, which was getting a little stagnant. You can have an interestingly structured, multi-part song that can still have mass appeal.
On the plane home from Salt Lake City, I was stoked to get back to it, though. I sat scribbling notes in the margins of my Sound On Sound magazine, rewriting some of the songs that had been sitting dormant this summer. Once I got back in the studio, I promptly rebuilt the song "Shades of Gray" and gave it a couple of flourishes that have really improved it. While it's still in the opening stages, it's going to be a good song, mark my words.
Another thing I've been busy doing is working up video for our live set. Yep, we're going to be doing full video for all of our songs in our live set. Some of it is better than others, but all of it is interesting at the very least. That's been a time consuming task, but quite a fun break from music-making, allowing me to be creative in completely new ways.
Well, best get back to work. Expect to be hearing more from us this fall!
