What Goes Bump In The Night - Writing Horror This course is for intermediate to advanced writers who have learned basic screenplay format. Students will learn all the aspects and elements of genre screenwriting and will able to write a feature length Horror screenplay at the end of this course. In order to write about Horror, the student must first understand the basics of Human Nature when it comes to Horror or rather Fear. Horror shows people in decay, hideous, ridden with guilt by ghosts from the past, chased by monsters that are sometimes of their own making. We will first study the Nature of Fear and the introduction of Horror through History and Mythology of our Cultures. This will lead us into the age of Writing and then into Movies. George E. Fernandez, M.F.A., is an accomplished playwright and television writer and has taught screenwriting and production classes at Florida State University Film School and the School of Communication where he taught Documentary Production. He has taught as well at Tallahassee Community College. He has also just finished directing his first DV feature film, DEATH AND SEDUCTION, which should be ready to enter the market this Winter. In the past Summer George has done what very few writers living outside of Los Angeles have been able to do. He has gotten three screenplays optioned for production. The First a Ghost film titled, SUNNYLAND, a Demonic Haunting in ESPIRITU: THE DEMON WITHIN and the third a SCI-FI thriller for SCI-FI Channel titled, SURVIVOR. George continues to write screenplays and develop programming for Television not only for the Domestic Market but also for the World Market that is growing daily.
