MUMBAI: HDFC Bank has reported a 31% increase in net profit in the third quarter of FY06 to Rs 224 crore as against Rs 171 crore in the corresponding period of the previous year. The profit growth was aided by a 51% growth in net revenues ??” net interest income and fee-based income. Gross income rose by 51% to Rs 1,476 crore from Rs 980 crore in the previous year.
The bank??™s share price fell 1.22% to close at Rs 747.95 on the Bombay Stock Exchange on Tuesday. In the nine-month period, the bank has reported a net profit of Rs 607.6 crore, a 31.2%
growth over the Rs 463 crore reported in the previous year. Gross income rose by 47.4% to Rs 3,918 crore from Rs 2,658 crore. Interest earned rose by 51% to Rs 1,180 crore (Rs 779 crore). Net interest income rose by 52% to Rs 671 crore from Rs 440 crore. Other income jumped by 48% to Rs 296 crore from Rs 199 crore. Operating expenses rose by 61% to Rs 449 crore (Rs 279 crore). Operating profit looked up by 42.6% to Rs 518 crore (Rs 381.9 crore). Provisions and contingencies rose by 74% to Rs 197 crore (Rs 113 crore).
Its balance sheet size rose by 42.2% to Rs 67,623 crore from Rs 47,556 crore. As on December 31, ???05, gross deposits were Rs 51,195 crore (Rs 37,429 crore). Savings account deposits were Rs 15,185 crore (Rs 10,876 crore), while current
account deposits were Rs 12,021 crore (Rs 10,698 crore). The bank??™s total customer assets rose by 50% to Rs 42,538 crore (Rs 28,386 crore). Gross retail loans increased by 75.6% to Rs 20,659 crore. Retail loans are now 54.3% of gross advances. Net non-performing assets (NPAs) were 0.4% of net advances. |
