SPEEDWRITING YOUR NEXT NOVEL

Just remember I told you that if you don’t write your history, you don’t have one. I also told you that you could write your first draft in one day.  Well, I’m going to do better than that.  You’re going to write it in less than an hour. You have to trust me on this.  I discovered this method while I was writing my novel, The Mayor’s Wife Wore Sapphires. IT WORKS!

Here’s what you do:  Think about the story that has been rolling around in your head, or the story you’ve already written as a short.  You are going to write the first draft of a full book in one good sentence-- beginning, middle and end.

Why? Because if you can give me your story in one sentence, you won’t get lost and go back and muddle things up in the middle.  The end or climax will grow organically from the story and not be some contrived thing you yanked out of the air.

Trust me, everything will fall in place and stay in place when you follow my simple steps to speedwriting your novel.

THREE KEYS TO WRITING THE BESTSELLER-KIND-OF-NOVEL

OK, let’s go:

Beginning---------------------

Middle ------------------------

End----------------------------

Now put them together in one sentence.

My novel’s story is this:  A young mayor’s wife whose husband is assassinated is left to carry out his plan for improving the city and finding the assassin.  Write your story in one sentence and get your novel off to a running start.
