Hi my fellow writers,
I'm always happy to be with other writers. I must admit, though, I have a specialty. My novel, The Mayor's Wife Wore Sapphires" won the prestigious Cush City, "2007 Best New Author Award." i also rolled out the New Image Writer's Bus Tour in Los Angeles last October, which took our positive books out to the malls and libraries. I also conduct the most powerful workshop for new and struggling writers--"Writing and Marketing the Self-Published Author
It took me ten years to write my urban political thriller. When I finished, mainstream publishers made me a few putrid offers. I decided to self-publish, as I wanted to know the business side of writing too. You see, I love writing, and wanted to be able to make a good living from it.
When I started marketing my book, I found that I and everyone else were writing books, but no one was making money. So, I spent two years researching and experimenting on how to make a bestseller. I grew my database of over 10,000, and used that and other out-of-the-box techniques to make my book a success. Then writers started asking me how I did it.
i was spending so much time answering questions that I decided to design classes on everything that made my book a success. I learned that self-published authors without much money needed a hold-you-by-the-hand mentor to teach them to write quick and easy, make money like the pros. I learned that marketing a book when you don't have money or experience are almost impossible. But I learned that it can be done. I did it, and I teach it.
Did you know that mainstream writers only earn between 8-10% royalty. They may or may not get an advance--money up front. The writer, depending on the company, receives a check every 3 or 4 months. Each 20.00 book brings in approximately $4.00. Most books sell for less. With my self-published book, I receive $20.00 when I sell a book. When I sell 100 books, I have $2,000 in my pocket. I plan to sell a hundred books when I go out. I teach writers how to create unique situations to sell lots of books. Now here's the catcher: when you go with a mainstream publisher, they own all of your rights, and YOU still have to do all of the marketing. I think it's great once you've built a name and have a following.
I teach writers how to build a name, brand yourself, impact people's lives in a positive way. I teach romance, thrillers, mysteries, suspense, historical, memoir, drama, urban fiction (not street lit), impactful nonfiction, and screenplays. I don't teach erotica. You learn how to write fast and fabulous, compelling techniques. My workshops allow you to take the guesswork out of writing, and I, as a prize-winning author, has helped you write your book in an online workshop-conference, teleseminars, blogs, classrooms. No more searching for help and not knowing whether it's valuable help or not, no more having family members, without any training, to give you advice.
The techniques I learned to write compelling novels, and significant nonfiction in the 10 years I wrote my novel are not workshopped any other place. Rarely are they mentioned in a meaningful way to new writers. My writers finish their books under my tutelage in 90 days.
"Writing the Self-Published Bestseller Quick & Easy" is a workshop I give all over the country. It lasts for 6 weeks. if you ever need my workshop, or advice, just stop by. The next workshop begins on May 6. If you plan to take the workshop, contact me right away. The deadline is May 3.
