CASSAVA BIG BAND
Cassava is a group of Latin musicians based in Toronto who
perform musical styles and rhythms from many areas of Latin
America. The music reflects the colours and flavours of
Latin styles such as Salsa, Bolero and Cha-cha-cha from
Cuba, Bossa Nova and Samba from Brazil, Cumbia from Colombia
and contemporary Latin-Jazz.
Cassava's colourful performances at festivals, clubs and
special events involve audience Participation and never
fail to keep the crowd moving to the infectious Latin rhythms.
They make the whole audience participate and feel like a
part of the show.

ALBERTO ALBERTO
Well known and highly respected Cuban singer and composer.
He will be performing with Cassava. Alberto is also the
lead vocalist for Son Ache. He blew away Canadian fans with
his on the spot performance during the Oscar De Leon concert

HILARIO DURAN
Hilario Dur??n is one of the top few virtuoso jazz
pianists from Cuba. Dur??n has gained an illustrious
career and a solid reputation; along with Chucho Vald?©s
and Gonz??lo Rubalcaba, Hilario Dur??n is ranked
among the greats as one of the most important contemporary
Cuban pianists. Hilario Dur??n is one of Cuba's premier
exponents of Latin Jazz, renowned for his piano playing
and composing skills. His impressive track record speaks
for itself. Dur??n has worked with some of the world's
giants of jazz, including Dizzy Gillespie and Arturo Sandoval.

RICKY FRANCO
Canada??™s #1 Latin R&B sensation. Born and raised
in Toronto, of Mexican nationality. He??™s a multi-instrumentalist
as well as a singer, lyricist, composer, arranger, producer
and lead vocalist for other local groups such as Marron
Matizado, Fantasia, Son Ache and Grupo Azteca, his father??™s

EVARISTO MACHADO
Evaristo Machado was born in Havana City, Cuba. He arrived
to Canada in 1997, where he met Grammy-nominee Jane Bunnett,
and started performing with her Cuban jazz ensemble, which
includes Hilario Duran and her husband Larry Kramer. He
performed at the Du Maurier Theatre with Memo Acevedo in
1998. He has also performed in the TLN Festival at Canada??™s
Wonderland. Before forming his own band, he was a regular
singer with the Pablo Terry Band (Sol de Cuba), Klave y
Kongo and Son Ache.
Evaristo is a singer, performer, songwriter and a good dancer!

FITO BLANKO
Panamanian born, this Canadian rocks the dancehall with
Spanish/English Reggae. This twenty-one (21) year old Urban-Latino
artist, Fito Blanko has been making waves in Canada, the
U.S and in South and Central America. Armed with lyrical
skills and a ???firecracker??? personality, Fito
is making a name for himself in the exploding Urban Latino

LA BOMBA
Chilean-born, North America-based Paula Gonzales, also known
as La Bomba is a DJ, MC, bass player graffiti artist, and
documentary video-maker. She began her artistic career in
the mid 80's as a New-York-style mural artist, claiming
her fame as the first female graffiti artist in Toronto.
She was voted NOW Magazine's Graffiti Artist of the Year
in 1998.
When she is not busy promoting her latest work, she is
doing shows with her 14 piece band ???Amasonica Sound
Force???. Bomba is our female MC of the night!
JUAN CARLOS CARDENAS
Venezuelan born, Juan Carlos Cardenas is the lead vocalist
for the salsa group Cache and Proyecto Charanguero. He is
also a song writer and has released his first album with
his native band Cache. JC is our male MC of the night!

CITY DANCE CORPS
This dance school is located downtown Toronto at 539 King
St. West at Bathurst. The City Dance Corps works with social
and aspiring dancers and accommodates classes from beginners
to advanced students. The instructors of City Dance Corps
have also been featured as international Salsa instructors
in Bermuda, Greece, Japan, and Thailand.
Besides Latin and Salsa, City Dance Corps offers ballet
boot camp, street and lyrical jazz, hip hop, tap, break-dance,
Pilates, and kids classes.

BILLY BRYANS
One of the top Toronto??™s salsa DJS, Billy Bryans also
does his extensive traveling to first hand experience and
immerse himself in alluring rhythms of salsa and Latin culture.
The results are great tunes and satisfying crowds.
TROPICALIENTE
A part of the Flow Fitness which is located at 219 St. Clair
West at Avenue Road, Tropicaliente delights in bringing
the sizzle and energy of Latin dance to audiences everywhere.
Salsa and samba are specialties and besides it they feature
dances from all over the Caribbean and South America, including
lambada, merengue, cha-cha-cha, cumbia, and Afro-Brazilian
dances.
TropiCaliente dancers are also known for their bold fusion
pieces, and they will be performing an interesting mix of
salsa and belly dancing.

SALSALICIOUS
Born in Lima, Peru, Marie Ehler is a true dynamo behind
this Hamilton, Ontario dance school. Besides dancing, this
superwoman is a mother of three (ranging from 4 years old
to 16), proprietor of two Tim Horton??™s stores in Hamilton
and a promoter for the Latin nightclub UpLounge in Hamilton.
Recently she became well known to all of us with her appearance
in Maalox commercial. She will be dancing with her partner

SALSA TEAM HAMILTON
This group of dancers is a great representation of the Hamilton??™s
dance community, and introducing something called ???on
2??™ salsa dancing. On 2 dancing is the closest to mambo
and it requires a trained ear and great timing in dancing.
They will deliver a special choreography by Marie Ehler.More

KATE DAVIS
Kate Davis is considered one of the top female comedians
in Canada. She is also a mother of three, has her TV show
and is a salsera. Where does Kate Davis get the time? Actually,
this is the only time alone she does get ??“ on stage,
away from her Vida Loca as a mother of three. Kate??™s
candid, clever and quick lines push the envelope of being
a comedienne. From children to being a woman in the 21st
century, her act is full of observations with a twist.
Kate most recently taped her hour long comedy special ???Comedy
Now??? for CTV and the Comedy Network. You might of
seen her as a guest and performer on Open Mike with Mike
Bullard. A classically trained actress, Kate had a full
season in Toronto??™s Theatre Plus. From there, it was
time to play a stripping nun in ???A Bed Full of Foreigners???
and next displaying her vast diversity in ???The Diary
of Anne Frank???. Now she??™s been terminally bitten
by the need to make you laugh. And if you??™ve got three
kids, you probably understand why.

BETTY COLON & EDGAR HERNANDEZ
Venezuelan-born Betty Colon and Cuban-born
Edgar Hernandez danced for Ballet Creole before dedicating
their teaching to salsa. Both have participated in many
city events, and most recently they have been featured instructors
and performers at the Distillery??™s Ffida Dance Festival.
Betty and Edgar will deliver an interesting, fun and sexy
version of fusion salsa, merging many familiar styles and
creating a very unusual styling salsa lesson.

It takes a vision of one followed with work of many to accomplish
what Lula Lounge did in a relatively short period.
