everyone getting ready for Christmas and New Year? If you

As many of us are getting ready for the holiday festivities,
so are the promoters: many parties are coming up. This upcoming
Friday is the last Friday
at the Acrobat for 2004. The club will be
closed due to private parties that will take place during
the month of December. Kudos to promoter Kevork,
for his great work and efforts. Many of us should remember
at this festive time all those who work hard to keep you
entertained. And yes, don’t forget us too under your
Christmas tree ?
While Acrobat is down, you might want to check
a new Toronto hotspot! In the heart of Yorkville, Momentos
will open its doors this upcoming Friday. Ladies
can get in for free before midnight. We are also bringing
you some goodies, courtesy of Sabor
Nuevo Entertainment; so don’t miss

This week we are bringing
you the in and out on Gisel Della Chiara.
Learn more about this Torontonian Latin beauty, the Latin
Vibes host/producer and a TV star. Check out her experiences
with JLo, Thalia, Chayanne,
and better yet find out if she does Salsa. Plus….”does
size matter” was one of the questions
we asked her and this could be a good place to clear up
some rumours, such as the ones that mean people invent about
us people who work so hard to give it to you. This time,
get Gisel’s take on this topic!
One interview is not enough right? In our efforts to give
you plenty of Christmas gifts, we interviewed one
more upcoming star, Shantall Young. As hard
as it is to make it in this business, it is so much harder
for women. While there is no doubt in our minds that we
will soon all know about her golden voice, hear first hand
how she copes with this struggle to stardom.
Last but not least, we are glad to report on Ricky
Franco’s concert last Saturday at Lula Lounge.
This was something that we have not yet seen on the Latin
scene. There was that ‘Je n’ai sais quoi’
or more appropriately ‘No se que', and it
is certain that this kid has it all.
First of all, we have never seen so many media reporters
in one spot and some even sent two teams per media company,
just to make sure they wouldn’t miss anything: like
in Mission Impossible. You will enjoy seeing this:
after the second set, women were approaching the stage to
get close to their idol to get a hug, kiss or an autograph.
We were blown away, but one can only just imagine how Ricky
felt. It must feel like heaven!
Fellow musicians came out to support Ricky and the P-CREW
Orchestra. In this issue, check out the review and pictures
from the event. Anyhow, Ricky
sold tons of S.L.U.T. T-shirts (Support Local Urban Talent)
so if you want or have someone in mind that
can use one, let us know. Many guests left Lula with autographed
Ricky Franco posters and demos. Ricky Franco will be at
Plaza Flamingo on December 17th alongside Alex
Bello for a memorable Bachata Christmas
Bash!
And in our festive mood, let’s
acknowledge one very, very special spot - Lula Lounge.
Once upon a time it was called an Open
City and back then it was a party spot that
took place in one of the owner’s living room. Today,
three years later, Open City got its home at Lula Lounge,
a place for world talent and it offers great food in an
informal, bohemian atmosphere. Certainly it is our place
of choice, and according to our semi-annual polls, it’s
yours too.
In the spirit of the Christmas
season, Lula will express their gratitude for all of you
who supported them and to all the musicians who participated
in making it what it is today. The event
is free for all of our site visitors also exclusive to our
site and to you! All you need to do is to
show up at Lula and say you are invited through Salsa Spot
when they come to the door. So, put Tuesday, November 30th,
you just need to put yourself on a guest list and you’ll
get a chance to meet the who’s who. Free of charge.

And from all the recognition
and rewards that we get as a part of this job, what feels
the best is a handshake, hug or an e-mail that we get from
our local talent thanking us for our support and notes of
