HO - HO -
HOT- MEET WALTER ALZA!
Hi everyone,
Are
you enjoying the wet snow? Probably not, but let’s
hope we get the real thing for the holidays. Talking about
the holidays, have any of you had a chance to buy all
your presents?
Well, all of our presents are ready and we continue to
keep our promise to bring you a series of very special
interviews. We have already featured Gisel
Della Chiara and Luisito
Orbegoso. This week we are bringing you
an interview with the handsome and famous Walter
Alza, a real treat for all the female
readers… as well as for those who adore this Latin
Apollo but are not willing to admit it. Walter is rumoured
to play Che Guevara
in the upcoming movie from the director of “Traffic”.
As high profile interviews do not come that easy, it
was a great pleasure to inquire about Walter life experiences
and various paths that have lead him to where he is today.
Walter is the bringer of loyalty, fighter for the underprivileged
and lover of peace – all in one. The best of all,
he candidly answered all our questions without hesitation,
so our dear ladies and gentlemen you are in for the treat!
We are also bringing you a
scoop on Que Chula Fridays at Momentos Nightclub.
Check out the picture gallery which tells it all, but
if this is not enough, check out our review for this new
dating spot. Rest assured that Momentos is taking off
like wild fire and you should consider yourself lucky
to get in as the first 2 Fridays the club was jammed packed.
The club is definitely giving Ba-ba-lúu’s
a run for its money. Not only does it feature a larger
space but also features theme parties and live music.
To top it off, next week they will be featuring Toronto’s
King of Bachata, Carlos
Cruz. We can only hope that competitors
strike back and that we will see much more activity from
near-by clubs in the future. And we certainly hope that
rumours about Ba-ba-lúu’s closing down and
turning into condo building are not true, but only time
will tell.
We are also excited about
changes we have done here at SalsaSPOT and we hope you
like them too. We grew so rapidly over
the past year that we had to reprogram the site which
gives you quick access to the most wanted sections. As
you will notice, SalsaSCOPES will not be an integral part
of the site any longer. It will be exclusive for our newsletter
subscribers, so please forward this e-mail to anybody
who loves their monthly horoscope and ask them to join
our mailing list for their personal reading.
As our advertisers’ list is also growing, we added
many other advertising options, such as Major and Minor
Sponsor Ads and very affordable link ads. We will also
have options of having mini websites for selected clients
who want to take advantage of our traffic. Oh,
traffic…yes, we forgot to share this one with you.
We continue to get over 17 000 000 (yes that is 17 million
hits), which translates to over 105 000 unique monthly
visitors and over 27 000 new visitors each month. The
last month however we reached the number 100. This means
that last month alone we had people from 100 countries
visit our site, so we are officially on all continents
and cover 92% of countries connected to the Internet.
So if you have something to sell or want to feature your
business contact us for more info and the rates at info@salsaspot.com.
Needless to say, all these great results also bring new
responsibilities and challenges, so if you want to become
a volunteer and join the team, get in touch with us and
tell us about your strengths. We
are actively recruiting photographers, reporters, photojournalists
and interviewers. Are you in? Contact
us at hr@salsaspot.com.
As we mentioned (and don’t say you haven’t
been warned) we hope that you have reserved your spot
for any of the upcoming Christmas parties, especially
as there are fewer clubs and parties in town, so if you
want to salsa in style, better get yourself on a list.
The party we recommend for the younger, more
urban crowd is the one at Momentos where you can enjoy
mingling and socializing, courtesy of Sabor Nuevo Entertainment.
For us ‘older’
folks, we will go to Lula to enjoy a gourmet dinner and
a glass of a festive wine with the live music of Caché.
Besides these clubs which are our favourites, one can
always go for the regular stand-bys El
Rancho, Plaza Flamingo and Ba-ba-lúu’s,
but be warned, last year we arrived to report on those
clubs shortly after 1am and the clubs were already emptied
out. The one club that we visited last year that had no
signs of slowing down was El
Convento Rico. It is the club that certainly
tops our list of all time favourites and the club keeps
on going without even catering to the salsa dancing crowd.
As far as for the New Year prices, they naturally vary
and depend on your wishes and requirements and they start
from $20 which just gets you a foot in a door all the
way to $150 for a gala dinner and entertainment.
Maybe, just maybe if our personal obligations do not
put their feet down we might report from the variety of
spots….but let’s for a moment get back to
today…
