Hey Adventureland Friends: I rarely watch the awards show. So I missed all of the Oscar buzz. Whoopi Goldberg & Brad renfro were both snubbed by Oscar. One as a past host and the other to honor honor Hollywood dead. Okay, one can debate Brad's impact on Hollywood. But one can not question Whoopi. Having made history as the first African-American host. And she returned to host again and again through the late 1990's. As a big fan of both, I am glad to have missed it. I do watch them as a last resort. But I am not big on horse and pony shows of any kind. Want your birthday noted here? Check out Birthday Alarm for details. I only use first names here. And the links work as well. So take it for a test drive. http://www.adventurelandvideo.com Now, on to the show. Our opening act is the comic legend Gilbert Gottfried. Known to film buffs for 'Problem Child' and hosting 'USA Up All Night.' Our Snack Bar is serving up a Valerie Bertinelli favorite - Jalapeno Poppers. Nope, this is not her recipe. But she inspired me to go looking for one. Have you been to our Blog recently? If so, then you may have seen my warning for computer shoppers. My computer dude adds, "shop by specs and not by brand." Cheap PCs may offer less expansion. So plan ahead. We have news next. The WGA has a 3 year contract. Neverland Ranch is being foreclosed on. Can the pop star leverage the Beatles enough to save it? Should he even try it? Blingo is the place to be on friday for movie buffs. The prizes awarded are movie tickets. The previous #1 movie, 20th Century Fox's "Jumper," dropped to #2 with $12.7 million, raising its total to $56.2 million. Paramount's "Spiderwick Chronicles" was #3 with $12.6 million. Disney's "Step Up 2 The Streets" and Warner Bros.' "Fool's Gold" rounded out the top 5. "Vantage Point," a Sony Pictures action-drama about a presidential assassination seen from the viewpoints of different characters, included a star-studded cast that featured Dennis Quaid and Matthew Fox. "Audiences really love it when they get a summer-style popcorn movie at a time of the year when they don't expect it," said Paul Dergarabedian, president of Media By Numbers. The studio said "Vantage Point" appealed to a broad audience - 52% of moviegoers were male and half were under age 30. "It's fresh with lots of twists and turns. Audiences become very invested in it," said Rory Bruer, Sony president of distribution. The only other new release to crack the top 10 was the Jack Black comedy "Be Kind Rewind," which took in $4.1 million and was tied at #7 with "Juno." The Fox Searchlight comedy has rung up $130 million since opening 12 weeks ago. Paramount Vantage's oil saga "There Will Be Blood" moved up two slots to #10 with $2.6 million for a total of $35 million in 9 weeks. The weekend's other 2 debuts, Lionsgate's "Witless Protection" and MGM's "Charlie Bartlett," came in at #13 and #14, respectively. Box office revenues were down for the second straight week. Comedian whose penetrating voice has paved his path to success. Brooklyn born, this squinty-eyed funnyman got his first national exposure on Saturday Night Live in their rocky 1980 season. Fired at the season’s end, he joined the cast of the late-night dud “Thicke of the Night”. After cancellation, he went back to the comedy circuit. An upturn in his career in the late ‘80s led to the job of hosting cable’s “Up All Night”, the late-night movie show. Gottfried’s piercing voice and hilarious lines have made him a voice-over favorite, and the jokester has also made memorable screen appearances, delighting us in Look Who’s Talking Too and Problem Child. Gottfried can currently be heard as the hillarious George Zucco on Comedy Central's "Crank Yankers". NOTABLES: At the young age of 15, he began doing stand-up at open mike nights in New York City. When doing standup, he used to keep his eyes squinted shut out of nervousness. This has since become a trademark of his. His signature voice can be heard in several commercials, including the duck for AFLAC and the toaster for Kellogg's Pop Tarts. He provides the voice of DIGIT in the PBS Series "Cyberchase" too. QUOTABLES: "The pressure to being a comedian is being funny, but I've given that up, so there is no pressure whatsoever." If you don't have any plastic gloves, I have slipped my hands into baggies to protect them from the oils that can really burn and sting for hours. In a medium bowl, mix the cream cheese, and pepper jack cheese. In a pot of barely simmering water, blanch the pepper halves for 2 minutes, drain and dry thoroughly. Spoon mixture into the jalapeno pepper halves. Put the milk and flour into two separate small bowls. Dip the stuffed jalapenos first into the milk then into the flour, making sure they are well coated with each. Allow the coated jalapenos to dry for about 10 minutes. Dip the jalapenos in milk again and roll them through the breadcrumbs. Allow them to dry, then repeat to ensure the entire surface of the jalapeno is coated. In a medium skillet, heat the oil to 365 degrees F (180 degrees C). Deep fry the coated jalapenos 2 to 3 minutes each, until golden brown. Remove and let drain on a paper towel. +===================================+ <> <> <> BUDDY LIST <> <> <> +===================================+ !!! PAKADEVA'S FREEBEES !!! This is the place !
