Hey Adventureland Friends:

My cousin Dallas is a first time dad. His baby, Nevaeh
(Heaven spelled backwards) Elizabeth weighs almost 9
pounds and measures 21". Congrats!

I have more good news. Some who adopted HD DVD may
want see their retailer. Best Buy & Circuit City have
programs in place to help you transition to Blu-Ray.
See the stores for details.

Obviously, you must have purchased your HD DVD from
them. You will likely need a receipt. Lost it huh? Did
you use a credit card or loyalty card? Ask them to
help you locate a receipt.

Unlike us, they have data centers of digital images of
receipts. Even the retailers have these. The key is
charming someone to helping you out in a pinch.

The Spotlight is on a Lost Legend known as Mister
Rogers. He devoted his life to children and refused to
do commercials. See Burger King under Notables.

Our Snack Bar now features more anytime shakes made
with Carnation Instant Breakfast packets. This makes a
quick and refreshing treat for movie time.

This Auction Watch is a classified. The 1950's
Reynold's Drive-in was restored in 1998. This could
yours for $400K. Yes, I would love this reel jewel.

Blog Bytes covers a tribute by Dick Van Dyke & Julie
Andrews for Annette Benning & Bob Iger. George Clooney
has a special screening for 'Leather Heads' in KY.

Miley Cyrus changes her name. Jail time for 'Even
Stevens' star? Mark Burnet returns for another MTV
Movie Awards. State video game law challenged.

Want your birthday noted here? Check out Birthday
Alarm for details. I only use first names here. So you
can sign-up with confidence.

CROWDS HEAR THE CALL OF 'HORTON'S WHO'

Horton hears a hit. Family audiences boosted 20th
Century Fox's "Dr. Seuss' Horton Hears a Who!" to a
$45.1 million debut, the best opening so far this
year, according to studio estimates.

Featuring Jim Carrey & Steve Carell in an adaptation
of the storybook about an elephant defending a
microscopic community, "Horton Hears a Who" is the
latest computer-animated film from Blue Sky, the
outfit behind the "Ice Age" flicks.

The previous weekend's #1 movie, Warner Bros. action
yarn "10,000 B.C.," slipped to second with $16.4
million, raising its 10-day total to $61.2 million.

Summit Entertainment's "Never Back Down," about a
troubled youth who finds purpose in the sport of mixed
martial arts fighting, opened third with $8.6 million.

The weekend's other new wide release, Rogue Pictures'
"Doomsday," premiered at #7 with $4.7 million. The
movie follows a team of specialists trying to find a
cure for an epidemic that forced the quarantine of
Scotland.

"Horton Hears a Who" topped the $40.1 million opening
in January for "Cloverfield," which previously was the
year's #1 debut.

"It's a 'who-mongous' opening, and it's playing to all
Whos 2 to 92," said 20th Century Fox Chris Aronson.
"If you can't do an ode to Dr. Seuss with an opening
like this, come on."

The new movie was the fourth-best opening ever in
March. With the 2 "Ice Age" movies, "Horton" and
"Robots," Blue Sky now has 4 of the top 6 March debuts
of all time.

"They should rename March 'Blue Sky month,'" said Paul
Dergarabedian, president of Media By Numbers.

"Horton" landed in between the debut weekends of 2
other big-screen Seuss adaptations, 2000's "How the
Grinch Stole Christmas" with $55.1 million and 2003's
"The Cat in the Hat" with $38.3 million.

With solid reviews for "Horton," Fox is counting on
strong business through Easter next Sunday and beyond,
as many students are out of school, Aronson said.

Hollywood's revenues rose for the first time after 4
straight weekends of declining business. Overall
receipts came in at $127 million, up 8.5% from the
same weekend last year, according to Media By Numbers.

Estimated ticket sales for Friday - Sunday at U.S. &
Canadian theaters, according to Media By Numbers.
Final figures will be released Monday.

01) "Dr. Seuss' Horton Hears a Who!" @ $45.1 million.

02) "10,000 B.C." @ $16.4 million.

03) "Never Back Down" @ $8.6 million.

04) "College Road Trip" @ $7.9 million.

05) "Vantage Point" @ $5.4 million.

06) "The Bank Job" @ $4.9 million.

07) "Doomsday" @ $4.7 million.

08) "Semi-Pro," @ $3 million.

09) "The Other Boleyn Girl" @ $2.9 million.

10) "The Spiderwick Chronicles" @ $2.4 million.

FRED MC FEELY ROGERS

DOB:  March 20, 1928 - Latrobe, Pennsylvania
DOD:  February 27, 2003 - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Fred Rogers was the host of the long-running
children's show 'Mister Rogers' Neighborhood.' The
show debuted in Pittsburgh in 1967 and was picked up
by PBS the next year, becoming a staple of public TV
stations around the United States. Rogers' mild
manner, cardigan sweaters and soft speaking voice made
him both beloved and parodied. Rogers ended production
of the show in 2001, but reruns of the show continue
to be aired on many PBS stations. He died in 2003
after a battle with stomach cancer.

NOTABLES:

Named for his maternal grandfather, Frederick
McFeeley. Years later, he named a character Mr.
McFeely after his grandfather.

Inducted into Television Hall of Fame in 1999.

Ordained as a Presbyterian minister in 1963. Earned
his divinity degree from Pittsburgh Theological
Seminary in 1962.

Graduate of Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida.
Was a contemporary of actor Anthony Perkins.

Eddie Murphy parodied him on "Saturday Night Live with
his "Mister Robinson's Neighborhood," a routine Rogers
found funny and affectionate.

His signature red sweater is on display @ Smithsonian
Institute Museum, having been donated by Rogers. Some
of his sweaters were made by his mother.

Johnny Carson parodied him on The Tonight Show with
"Mister Rambo's Neighborhood". When Rogers complained,
Carson publicly apologized.

After his death, a star was named after him. In 2003,
asteroid no. 26858 was named after him.

After Burger King impersonated Mister Rogers for a
commercial, Fred Rogers shamed them for "confusing
innocent children" into thinking he was promoting
their fast food. They openly apologized, and the
commercial was pulled.

QUOTABLES:

"I think people who produce and perform on programs
for children should have as a prerequisite some sort
of course to understand their audience. You wouldn't
put a newsman on the air who didn't know how to
pronounce Vietnam. But we give millions of dollars to
these people who are producing cartoons and they have
no earthly idea of what they're doing to a kid."

"You know you don't have to be an actor when you read
a book to a child. All you need is to simply love what
you're reading. Even just enjoying the pictures
together is a great start. When you share a book with
a child, you're saying to them that books are
important. That's a gift that can nurture them all
through their lives."

HALE BERRY: LIFE IMITATES ART

Halle Berry doesn't just play mom anymore. The actress
(41) had a baby girl, and "is doing great," publicist
Meredith O'Sullivan told People. It is her first
child. The father is model Gabriel Aubry (32). They
met while shooting a Versace ad 2 years ago. Berry
told Oprah Winfrey last year that playing a mother in
her latest movie, "Things We Lost in the Fire," helped
convince her that motherhood was for her. "I think it
validated that I was meant to be a mother because
every day I dealt with the character as a mother and
thinking as a mother," Berry said. "It let me know
that I must be a mother." Berry said she & Aubry don't
plan to marry, but are fully committed to each other.

BILL & BRAD BREAK GROUND IN N.O.

Former President Bill Clinton & Brad Pitt met with
volunteers where a foundation headed by Pitt plans to
build homes for Hurricane Katrina victims. "We hope to
see a huge change here in the next 6 months," Pitt
told
residents. They walked a street as volunteers on
either
side, wielding shovels & rakes, cleared away overgrown
grass and weeds. Lower 9th was one of the hardest-hit
neighborhoods in New Orleans when Katrina struck Aug.
29, 2005, causing the city's levee system to fail. "It
is only fitting that we culminate a weekend focused on
youth service by turning words into action," Clinton
said. Clinton & Pitt shook hands and chatted with 600+
youth volunteers. The event wrapped with the volunteer
effort where Pitt & Make It Right will build homes
with earth friendly features like cisterns & solar
panels. Pitt & Clinton broke ground.

LEBEOUF'S PUFF BLUFF CALLED

No thank you for smoking, Shia LaBeouf. A bench
warrant was issued for LaBeouf after "Transformers"
star failed to appear in court. The 21-year-old was
cited last month for unlawful smoking, according to
the warrant, which didn't contain details on the
circumstances or location. He was scheduled to appear
in a Los Angeles County courthouse on the misdemeanor
offense, but neither he nor his lawyer showed up.
LaBeouf's image hardly suffered from an arrest last
year on criminal trespass charge for failing to leave
a Chicago store. Arresting police noted that LaBeouf
was "very courteous and polite," and the charge was
dropped because Walgreens didn't want to pursue it.
LaBeouf starred on the Disney Channel show "Even
Stevens" and can next be seen in "Indiana Jones and
the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull."

BURNETT RETURNS 2 MTV MOVIE AWARDS

Mark Burnett is returning as executive producer of the
MTV Movie Awards. Burnett will helm the
anything-can-happen show for the second year in a row.
The 17th annual ceremony will air live June 1. "It's
already shaping up to be the most movie-star attended
(show) yet," the reality TV mastermind said. Burnett,
producer of "Survivor" & "The Apprentice," steered the
MTV show as it went live for the first time last year.

Burnett promises more surprises this year. He said a
live telecast keeps the show short - and celebrities
happy. "The stars don't have a great time sitting
there through extremely long commercial (breaks) while
everyone's trying to figure out what to do next," he
said. "When it's live, it just goes. All those stars
left last year, saying, 'Oh my god, that was great.'"
Nominees will be announced at a later date.

DISH REOPENS TIVO PATENT DISPUTE

Dish asked a federal appeals court to rehear a patent
dispute with TiVo, saying the court's ruling in TiVo's
favor relied on inaccurate testimony. January, Court
of Appeals for the Federal Circuit agreed that DVRs by
Dish violated TiVo's patent. That ruling overturned
the lower court's finding that Dish infringed on the
hardware elements of the patent. At stake is $94M the
lower court awarded TiVo. Dish said an expert witness
for TiVo contradicted himself. A third win for TiVo
will boost negotiating power with cable & satellite TV
providers. TiVo already has agreements with Comcast &
Cox. DirecTV Group will pay TiVo royalties through
2010, though it no longer sells TiVo-based boxes,
having opted for its own DVR.

MN CAN'T BAR KIDS FROM GAMES

A federal appeals court upheld an injunction against a
Minnesota law that targeted at children under 17 who

the 8th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals agreed with a
lower-court that Minnesota went too far when it passed
its law because the state couldn't prove such games
hurt children. The law would have hit kids under 17
with a fine if they rented or bought video games rated
"M" or "AO." Game makers and retailers challenged the
law, arguing it was unconstitutional.
