Hey Adventureland Friends:

As you may learned on our blog, all of my computers
were taken down. Two of them are back-up. The third
should be up tonight. Thanks again, Danny.

For this reason, I accomplished very little of what I
had planned. So, this week will likely be short too.
Hopefully, I can get some stuff caught up.

Congratulations to Tony. He is the new manager of the
new & improved Great American Fleamarket. I will miss
Bill. Tony will make worth a drive to Daleville, IN.

'HORTON' HOLDS STRONG THROUGH EASTER

Audiences are still listening to Horton and his Who
pals.

"Dr. Seuss' Horton Hears a Who," 20th Century Fox's
animated adaptation of the children's book, remained
the top movie for a second straight weekend with $25.1
million, according to studio estimates.

Featuring the voices of Jim Carrey & Steve Carell, the
movie raised its 10-day total to $85.5 million.

"Horton" fended off a rush of new movies opening over
Easter weekend.

Lionsgate's "Tyler Perry's Meet the Browns," about a
single mom who connects with unknown kin at her late
father's funeral, opened at #2 with $20 million.

It was the latest success for writer-director Perry,
whose past hits for Lionsgate include "Madea's Family
Reunion" & "Why Did I Get Married?" Shot on modest
budgets, Perry's movies play to a built-in fan base.

"You kind of know what you're going to get with Tyler
Perry, and that's a good thing," said Paul
Dergarabedian, president of Media By Numbers. "You
want to be in business with this guy because he's
going to make you money every time."

"Shutter," 20th Century Fox's fright flick about a
newlywed couple tormented by a spirit whose image
appears in their photos, opened at #3 with $10.7
million.

Just behind it at #4 was Owen Wilson's "Drillbit
Taylor," which pulled in $10.2 million. The Paramount
release stars Wilson as a laid-back homeless guy who
signs on as bodyguard for 3 bullied teenage nerds.

"Under the Same Moon," a border tale about a Mexican
boy trying to reunite with his mother in the U.S., was
#10 with $2.6 million, a record opening weekend for a
Spanish film. Released by Fox Searchlight & Weinstein,
the movie has taken in $3.3 million since opening
Wednesday and also took in $1.7 million in Mexico,
where it debuted this weekend.

"Under the Same Moon" surpassed the previous Spanish
record set by "Ladron Que Roba a Ladron," which opened
with $1.6 million last Labor Day weekend.

Both opened in far more theaters - "Under the Same
Moon" @ 266, "Ladron" @ 340 - than typical Spanish
films, which generally debut in a handful of cinemas
before expanding if they click with movie-goers.

"We thought this was a movie that could play as a
commercial movie, not as an arthouse movie, to
Spanish-language audiences," said Peter Rice, Fox
Searchlight president.

The movie started in theaters catering to Spanish. But
it also enjoyed strong word-of-mouth in cinemas
dominated by English, where business picked up over
the course of the weekend, said Harvey Weinstein,
whose had found success with foreign-language films
such as "Cinema Paradiso" & "Amelie" @ Miramax.

Fox Searchlight & Weinstein Co. plan to gradually roll
"Under the Same Moon" out to more theaters in the
coming weeks.

Estimated ticket sales for Friday - Sunday @ U.S. &
Canadian theaters, according to Media By Numbers.
Final figures will be released Monday.

01) "Dr. Seuss' Horton Hears a Who" @ $25.1 million.

02) "Tyler Perry's Meet the Browns" @ $20 million.

03) "Shutter" @ $10.7 million.

04) "Drillbit Taylor" @ $10.2 million.

05) "10,000 B.C." @ $8.7 million.

06) "Never Back Down" @ $4.9 million.

07) "College Road Trip" @ $4.6 million.

08) "The Bank Job" @ $4.1 million

09) "Vantage Point" @ $3.8 million.

10) "Under the Same Moon" @ $2.6 million.

MGM DEAL 4 MIDDLE EAST ATTRACTION

MGM reached an agreement with one of Abu Dhabi's
largest developers for an entertainment destination,
MGM said. Plans call for the project in the United
Arab Emirates with Sorouh Real Estate to open by 2012
and include hotels, restaurants, retail shops and
attractions based on MGM's 4,100 films. MGM would
obtain licensing fees from the complex, while Sorouh
would finance, construct and manage the property.
Plans call for the project to involve 150 acres. With
the deal, MGM became the latest entertainment giant to
partner with a developer in the United Arab Emirates.
Last May, Universal Studios announced it would build a
$2 billion theme park in Dubai by 2010 with Tatweer.
Marvel Entertainment also announced last year that it
would work with Al Ahli Group to create a $1 billion
amusement park in Dubai to open by 2011.

COPPOLA IN ARGENTINA 2 FILM 'TETRO'

Francis Ford Coppola will start filming next week on
"Tetro," about the struggles of an Italian family in
Argentina. Vincent Gallo & Alden Ehrenreich play the
brothers. Maribel Verdu plays Gallo's girlfriend. The
first scenes will be shot in La Boca, Buenos Aires.
The writer-director brushed off the possibility that
"Tetro" traces his own family. Filmmaker said he views
"Tetro" as an opportunity for continued personal
exploration as a director. "I'm trying to have a new
start with my career making more personal, smaller
films," he said. Coppola presented Gallo, Verdu, and
other actors as "our little company." "As an actor you
have fantasies, and this is the fantasy come true,"
Ehrenreich said of working with Coppola.

MCKELLEN HOPES 4 'HOBBIT' ROLE

Ian McKellen, who played Gandalf in the "Lord of the
Rings" trilogy, hopes to reprise the role in another
tale from Middle Earth. A fan asked McKellen on the
actor's Web site if he would play Gandalf in "The
Hobbit," being produced by Peter Jackson, director of
the "Rings" trilogy. "Yes, I will, if Peter Jackson
and I have anything to do with it," McKellen said.
Jackson reached a deal with New Line Cinema last year
to make 2 films of J.R.R. Tolkien's "The Hobbit," a
planned prequel to the "Rings" trilogy. Jackson will
serve as executive producer for the "Hobbit" movies.
Another fan asked: "Have you been approached yet by
Peter Jackson or anyone else" to play the Wizard?
McKellen replied: "Encouragingly, Peter & Fran Walsh
have told me they couldn't imagine 'Hobbit' without
their original Gandalf."

"I'll do my best to deliver a great show, as I do not

NETFLIX 2 CREDIT CUSTOMERS 4 OUTAGE

Netflix said Wednesday it will provide a 5% credit on
the monthly bills of customers whose shipments were
delayed by its Monday outage. Spokesman Steve Swasey
would not disclose the number of customers affected.
While Netflix ships on average 1.8 million DVDs each
day, Mondays are a lower-volume day. "Tuesdays and
Wednesdays tend to be our biggest days because most
folks watch movies on the weekends and mail them back
to us on Monday," Swasey said. The outage resulted in
a one-day delay for people expecting to receive DVDs
on Tuesday. Swasey confirmed one section of the site,
its ratings system, remained down Tuesday. Monday's
outage knocked out its Web site 11 hours. Netflix was
down 18 hours last July.
