Hey Adventureland Friends: The big event this week is Sky-Vue Drive-In. Yes, my local drive-in finally opened for the season. Check out there web site for more information. www.skyvuedrivein.com Check out the Box Office. My preferred source was unavailable. So I have just the facts. With more information than usual. Our Shining Star is Daniel Day Lewis. Did you know he was working as a Cobbler before being lured back to acting with 'Gangs Of New York?' There is enough in the Snack Bar for all of us. We have all seen those huge cookies. Usually chocolate chip. But have seen this huge Banana Split cookie? Remember the movie club idea I have mentioned in previous issues? Let Bookmarks serve as a reminder. Then run this idea by your friends & family. Blog Bytes has been slow. But you will see my take on Miley Cyrus. And celebrity news site TMZ goes where the Associated Press will not. And we have the usual stuff of course. Like movie showcases and ample news too. We even have some game news this week. Centering around 'GTA' of course. http://www.adventurelandvideo.com Want your birthday noted here? Check out Birthday Alarm for details. I only use first names here. So you can sign-up with confidence. http://www.clickaudit.com/goto/?36409 I just won a Fandango movie ticket. Before this I had a $5 gift certificate. My sponsor won both as well. The lads whose fathers worked on the docks or in shipping yards or were shopkeepers. I knew that I wasn't part of that world, but I was intrigued by it." We all keep moving toward the sun, wishing to get the last ray of hope before it sets." (On Scorsese) "Martin doesn't have to convince me about anything. I can only say that I would wish for any one of my colleagues to have the experience of working with Marty once in their lifetime. "Obviously, it's not a part that you turn down, I loved playing Gandalf." McKellen's Gandalf in "Lord of the Rings" delighted fans and critics, earning him an Academy Award nomination for best supporting actor. The "Lord of the Rings" movies, based on the J.R.R. Tolkien series, were extremely lucrative, grossing $2.8 billion worldwide. Yet the latest entry in the franchise could be the most lucrative. Analysts predict the Take-Two & Rockstar game will top last year's $300 million sales of "Halo 3." Rockstar's advertising campaign has consisted of some outdoor elements & commercials for "GTA" businesses. GameStop & Microsoft aired their own TV commercials featuring the game. The approach might have something to do with the content. "GTA IV" Niko Bellic isn't Mario Bros. As Bellic, players hijack cars, flee police, drive drunk, kill bystanders & patronize strip clubs.
