Subject: Reel 2 Reel Issue #197 ~ So sorry for the delay! - May04, 2008

Hey Adventureland Friends:

The big event this week is Sky-Vue Drive-In. Yes, my
local drive-in finally opened for the season. Check
out there web site for more information.

www.skyvuedrivein.com

Check out the Box Office. My preferred source was
unavailable. So I have just the facts. With more
information than usual.

Our Shining Star is Daniel Day Lewis. Did you know he
was working as a Cobbler before being lured back to
acting with 'Gangs Of New York?'

There is enough in the Snack Bar for all of us. We
have all seen those huge cookies. Usually chocolate
chip. But have seen this huge Banana Split cookie?

Remember the movie club idea I have mentioned in
previous issues? Let Bookmarks serve as a reminder.
Then run this idea by your friends & family.

Blog Bytes has been slow. But you will see my take on
Miley Cyrus. And celebrity news site TMZ goes where
the Associated Press will not.

And we have the usual stuff of course. Like movie
showcases and ample news too. We even have some game
news this week. Centering around 'GTA' of course.

Greatest Performances of All Time (2006).

Chosen by People magazine as one of the "50 Most
Beautiful People" in the world (1990).

Day-Lewis (2002).

QUOTABLES:

(on acting) "If I weren't allowed this outlet, there
wouldn't be a place for me in society."

"I always knew I could straddle different worlds. I'd
grown up in two different worlds and if you can grow
up in two different worlds, you can occupy four. Or
six. Why put a limit on it?"

"I came from the educated middle class but I
identified with the working classes. Those were the
people I looked up to. The lads whose fathers worked
on the docks or in shipping yards or were shopkeepers.
I knew that I wasn't part of that world, but I was
intrigued by it."

"The West has always been the epicenter of
possibility. One of the ways we forge against
mortality is to head west. It's to do with catching
the sun before it slips behind the horizon. We all
keep moving toward the sun, wishing to get the last
ray of hope before it sets."

(On Scorsese) "Martin doesn't have to convince me
about anything. I can only say that I would wish for
any one of my colleagues to have the experience of
working with Marty once in their lifetime. If you get
it twice, it's a privilege that you don't necessarily
look for but you certainly don't try to avoid."

CYRUS SKIPS DISNEY RED CARPET EVENT

Miley Cyrus made an appearance at Disney World, but

organizations refrain from identifying sex crime
victims, let alone show their picture, said Kelly
McBride at journalism think tank Poynter Institute.

COMIC VOLUNTEERS 2 PAY BACK TAXES

Senate candidate Al Franken, dogged by accusations
that he failed to file tax returns in California, said
he will pay $70,000 in back taxes in 17 states dating
to 2003. He & wife Franni, "paid taxes on every cent
of income we ever had." He followed his accountant's
advice and paid his entire income tax bill to the city
and state where he lived. He lived in New York City
from 2003-05 and Minnesota in 2006.
His communications director, Andy Barr, said none of
the states contacted Franken. Franken is preparing for
a tough fight against incumbent Norm Coleman, R-Minn.,
but his campaign has been sidetracked by bookkeeping
errors related to Alan Franken Inc. The campaign said
last month it would pay a $25,000 fine to the state of
New York for failure to carry workers'
compensation insurance.

BLAZE DAMAGES CELEBRITY HANG-OUT

Fire tore through a nightclub at Hollywood & Vine. No

or '30s, is home to Basque Nightclub & Restaurant.
Lindsay Lohan celebrated her 21st birthday there. The
fire was knocked down by 8 a.m., Battalion Chief Mario
Rueda said in front of the charred club. The corner of
Hollywood Boulevard & Vine Street was a mecca for
stars in Hollywood's Golden Era. Hollywood calls it
the world's "most famous intersection in the most
famous neighborhood." Stars found on the Walk of Fame
include James Stewart, James Dean & Judy Garland.
Many of the buildings in the area have been renovated
and restored in recent years. The building wasonce a
nightclub called Deep, where Matt Damon played cards
for scenes in "Ocean's Eleven." Extent of the losses
was not immediately known. Twenty-six companies, 6
rescue units & 180 firefighters battled the blaze.

Do With It," is joining the "ER" cast. She'll play an
attending physician returning to Chicago after doing

hides a troubled past that will unfold during the

MCKELLEN 2 REPRISE GANDALF ROLE

Ian McKellen will again take up the robes of Gandalf
in the cinematic adaptation of Tolkien's "The Hobbit,"
a film magazine reported. But McKellen's publicist
warned final arrangements were yet to be made. "Of
course he wants to do it, but nothing's been agreed or
signed," Clair Dobbs said. Empire magazine quoted
McKellen as saying Guillermo del Toro told him he
would be playing the wizard. "He confirmed that I
would be reprising the role," the magazine quoted
McKellen. "Obviously, it's not a part that you turn
down, I loved playing Gandalf." McKellen's Gandalf in
"Lord of the Rings" delighted fans and critics,
earning him an Academy Award nomination for best
supporting actor. The "Lord of the Rings" movies,
based on the J.R.R. Tolkien series, were extremely
lucrative, grossing $2.8 billion worldwide. "Hobbit"
is being produced by Peter Jackson, director of the
"Rings" movies, and is likely to be filmed next year.

'GTA IV' GETS LITTLE PUSH 4 APRIL 29

"Grand Theft Auto IV" has been less ballyhooed than
last year's "Halo 3" debut. Yet the latest entry in
the franchise could be the most lucrative. Analysts
predict the Take-Two & Rockstar game will top last
year's $300 million sales of "Halo 3." Rockstar's
advertising campaign has consisted of some outdoor
elements & commercials for "GTA" businesses. GameStop
& Microsoft aired their own TV commercials featuring
the game. The approach might have something to do with
the content. "GTA IV" Niko Bellic isn't Mario Bros. As
Bellic, players hijack cars, flee police, drive drunk,
kill bystanders & patronize strip clubs. Take-Two has
been subject to a hostile takeover from EA.
"GTA IV" is being simultaneously released for Sony &
Microsoft, a first for the 10-year-old franchise.
GameStop & Best Buy will open their doors at midnight
for special "GTA IV" launch events.

STEPHEN KING'S THE MIST  (2007)

Freak storm unleashes blood-thirsty creatures. A small

No one has a mind like Stephen King. No one adapts his
books better than Frank Darabont. "Haste makes waste"
best describes the heart-wrenching ending.

They are both very good movies that you must see. I
also watched 'The Yearling' and 'Old Yeller.' Both are
must see family classics.

I am sorry this has been so late. Each time I sit down
