Wholesome Online Activities for Your Kids By Lynn Williamson There are so many things that you can find for your children to do online that it can sometimes become a bit overwhelming. Video games, educational activities, interactive websites, and websites of favorite cartoon personalities all compete to make the decision of what to allow your kids to do online even harder. One of the favorite online activities of both parents and their children are coloring pages. Kids love to color. It allows them to express themselves artistically in a way that other activities can’t. Coloring pages can be the perfect outlet for kids to create something to be proud of without having to draw the picture from scratch which can be overwhelming for some kids. Coloring also helps build hand-eye coordination and can serve as a spring board for other types of artistic expression. All in all, coloring is a great activity for young children. And let’s face it; there is no shortage of coloring pages to be found online. From sites hosted by huge names such as Disney and Nickelodeon to personal, individually owned sites, there is a lot of free coloring to be found online. The best part about all of these coloring activities is that they are free. All you need to do is print off the coloring pages and supply the crayons, colored pencils, markers, or paints; you’ve found a way to keep your child occupied for hours. Sounds great, huh? While it is possible to find a lot of great content online, there is a downside to all of these free coloring activities. Many sites only offer a small selection of coloring sheets and they may not be of the highest quality. Many free coloring sheet sites are also poorly organized and rarely offer any educational content. Popular character sheets such as Spongebob Squarepants and Bratz can become monotonous and boring, and they have no educational value. There is an alternative, though. I found this great site that offers a variety of quality coloring sheets. Many of them have educational themes, and they are all organized so that you can easily find exactly what you are looking for. Some of the categories highlighted on this site include Wonders of the World, Insects, Dog Breeds, and Birds. These free coloring sheets help children become aware of the world around them and offer them a creative outlet where they can freely express themselves. And all of the content is free of charge. Many sites offer free low quality content but then charge for ontent with better quality. This one is different than anything that I’ve ever found for my kids online. You can check out all of the free coloring pages on this fine site right here: Lynn Williamson is a full-time freelance journalist, blogger, and copy editor. She lives in Cincinnati with her family.
