Beth does some really beautiful handwork! ***************************************** "Memories In The Making" Hand Painted Porcelain Baby Shoes by Beth Owen. http://www.zianet.com/Bethschina Hand Painted Porcelain Baby Shoes ***************************************** Today's Recipes ***************************************** Joy's Spicy Texan Rice-Sent In By Joy-Thanks! 1 cup long grain rice 3 tbsp vegetable oil 1 can diced original rotel tomatoes 1 small onion, chopped salt & pepper to taste 1/2 green bell pepper, chopped 1/2 red bell pepper, chopped 1 tsp chili powder 1 tsp garlic powder 2 cups chicken stock Directions In a sauce pan, brown rice in the oil over medium heat. Stir constantly, to avoid burning. When the rice is brown, add the onion, bell pepper, chili and garlic powder. Turn the heat to high and cook for 1 minute stiring constantly. Add the rotel and then the chicken stock. Bring to a boil. Cover, reduce heat, and simmer for 20 minutes. Remove from heat and let stand for 10 minutes. Makes 6-1/2 cup servings. Ingredients 2 cups flour 1/2 tsp salt 2 tsp paprika 1/4 tsp cayenne 1 tsp black pepper 1 cup buttermilk 2 Tbsp hot sauce 1 or 2 large sweet onions (Vidalia, etc.) oil for deep frying Directions Mix the buttermilk and hot sauce. Slice the onions into rings. (If you have difficulty slicing into rings, cut onion in half from top to bottom and then slice into half rings). Soak the onion pieces in the buttermilk mixture for one hour in the fridge. Mix the flour, salt, paprika, cayenne, and black pepper. Heat the oil to 375 degrees. Remove the onions from the soaking liquid. Shake off excess. Dredge in seasoned flour. Fry til golden brown. Drain on paper towels. Serve with Brian's Veggie Dipping Sauce. Ingredients 1/2 cup mayonnaise 1 1/2 tsp ketchup 1 1/2 tsp horseradish 1/2 tsp sugar 1/2 tsp lemon juice 1/4 tsp cayenne hot sauce to taste Directions Mix all together. Refrigerate for at least 1/2 hour for flavors to blend. Serve with Buttermilk O-Rings. Enjoy, Brian P.S. We have also used this sauce on everything from french fries to burgers. Im sorry, it doesnt work that way. They are two different things. If you go to http://www.cajuncookingrecipes.com/index.php and look on the right hand side. Under "add recipe" it asks if you are a new user to click here. Then create a username and password. You can use the same one as for the newsletter as long as no one else has it so far. It would make it easier to remember. It's real short, and as soon as you do this, you can add your recipes.
