Great Grandma Hornsby's York Cookies

Ingredients

1/2 cup Butter only--no substitutions
1/2 cup Sugar
1 cup Flour
1 Egg
1 tablespoon Milk
1/2 teaspoon Baking soda
1/4 teaspoon Nutmeg
1 tablespoon Lemon Juice OR OJ

Directions

Instructions:

Preheat oven to 375*.

Mix the butter and sugar until it becomes creamy and light. Gradually
add the flour until well mixed. In a seperate cup, beat the egg and
the milk together. Add the milk / egg mixture to the flour
ingredients. Mix again. Add the remaining ingredients.

Spray a cookie sheet with Baker's Joy or another type of no stick
product. Spread the dough thin so it is about 1/4 of an inch thick.
The best way to do this is pretend you are frosting a cake.

Once the dough has been spread, sprinkle with sugar, and bake until
it is a golden brown.

Cut into squares and serve with coffee, tea, or milk.

**This recipe belonged to my Great Grandmother Ellen Hornsby and it
is a well loved recipe to this day.**

Enjoy!

Humorous Gardening Story

My husband and I went to visit my daughter at her newly acquired farm.
As she was showing me her garden she named each vegetable, row by row.
She said these are beets and these are green beans and these are pigs
in a blanket... I looked at her in amazement and said "What are they
again?" She said...
