Mommysavers Newsletter -- November 10, 2003 Visit our site for more great resources: http://www.mommysavers.com "God only gives us as much as we can handle. I just wish he didn't trust me so much." --- Mother Teresa ============================================================== Hello! There's something new on Mommysavers this week -- a chat room! You can chat anytime, but we will have regularly scheduled chats at 2:00 p.m. CST for our readers. Scroll down to read more about it and see how you can get involved. Last week I was the hostess for the book club I belong to. The book we discussed was "Operating Instructions" by Anne Lamott. I selected it because I think it is truly one of the most honest, hilarious, and poignant books on motherhood I've ever read. If you haven't read it, check it out! You can read more about it by clicking here: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/044990928X/mommysavers Have a good week! This stuff works like no other. Diaper rash is caused by moisture and bacteria. When you use an ointment, the moisture and bacteria are trapped on the skin. Take about 1/2 cup flour and put it in a skillet and heat until the flour turns brown. Let COOL COMPLETELY before sprinkling on the affected area. This method will only take a couple of applications to work. -- Tracy, 41, from WA Snack Time Instead of buying those frozen PB&J things from Smuckers make your own! My 3 year old spotted them in a magazine I was reading and said "Mommy I want a Peanut Butter and Jelly Pie". Well we make a sandwich as usual but then we used a large cup to cut out a circle and then used a fork to crimp the edges. They look just like the store bought ones. My son loves helping me make his pie! -- Danielle, 34, from FL Dollar Stores I recently found out one of the "dollar stores" in town where I always shop accepts manufacturer's coupons. They sell many brand name items at discounted prices. So by checking the local newspaper ads or internet sites like Coolsavings*, I can save even more. One example is being able to buy a total of three bars of Irish Spring soap for only $.50. But be careful if you shop a store where "everything" is only $1.00. I have found instances where some items actually cost up to $.30 less at a regular store. And I also watch for the "buy one get one" promotions. But be careful of any other items you may purchase from there, as they sometimes raise those prices to compensate for what you get for free. -- Tina from OH *Register for FREE at Coolsavings by clicking here: http://www.mommysavers.com/coolsavings.htm Stain Removal I recently had twin boys and pulled out the clothes from our first son (now 3 years old) who had been tremendously blessed with tons of clothes. However, much to our dismay the clothes were badly stained. There were old formula stains that had been stored in our HOT attic along with the "nice" orange stains from baby food 3 years old. But there were adorable smocked jumpers that I just couldn't throw away. So, I had been using Oxy Clean as a "white booster" but not with colors. I mixed 2-3 scoops in the washing machine and let a light load soak overnight. Much to our surprise most of the stains lifted! Some residue of stains remained, so I used a scoop of Tide and 4 scoops of Oxy Clean, soaked overnight and then ran the cycle, and the clothes came out without a stain on them. I also ventured the same recipe with the bright colors and was sucessful again!!!! Works wonders on grass stains too! -- Jenne from NC We need YOUR tips for our newsletter!
