If I make a casserole, I assemble two of them, cook one and put the other one in the freezer for later. It also helps my husband when he needs to make dinner, to just pull something out of the freezer and put it in the oven. -- Kammie, age 32 Butter Wrappers Don't throw away your butter wrappers! Save them in the freezer and pull one or two out when you need to grease a pan. The wrappers will have the perfect amount of butter on them to grease your pan, and your hands don't get greasy! -- Sara, age 26 Ground Beef To save time and money I buy a large tube of lean ground beef from Sam's club. Then when I get it home, my husband and I brown, drain, and cool all the meat. We then put them in individual freezer bags and store them in the freezer. I usually get 6-7 dinner size portions from a $19.00 tube of beef. When it's time to make dinner, just defrost and heat up with whatever it is you are making. It really speeds up dinner preparation time. -- Sharon, age 36 To share your money saving tips with other member, visit: http://mommysavers.com/boards/forumdisplay.php?f=14 ------------------------------ HOT Deals: Halloween Costumes at Old Navy - Under $15! As a stay-at-home mom, I get bored and feel like I need to go somewhere and spend money everyday. I was just thinking about how well I did today because I went to the playground (free) and the library (free). Then I realized I spent money at the library; 40 cents on 4 magazines. Ok, that's not bad, but I know if I don't go anywhere I could save money. But then I will have to get a new hobby. Do you spend $ everyday? If not, what do you do? http://mommysavers.com/boards/showthread.php?t=5763 Simple Family Fun Take a walk, play a game, draw some pictures, bake some cookies... What simple ways do you have fun as a family? http://mommysavers.com/boards/showthread.php?t=5626 Frugal Beauty Secrets I am a SAHM and I have found I am letting myself go because I always find something more important to spend money on. What are your best beauty secrets at a great value? We all can look great if we go to a salon and spend a ton of money. What I want to know is what products you all use that are inexpensive, but yet, work really well. Is there any one that uses a great make up, hair color, face/body care? What is it and is it a good value? http://mommysavers.com/boards/showthread.php?t=5272 To visit all the forums: http://mommysavers.com/boards/index.php ------------------------------ What's Cooking: Pita Chips I love Stacy's Pita Chips. We like to get the big bag at Costco as a treat, but lately they have been so expensive even at Costco that I have been passing on them. Well, today I found a bag of pita bread pushed to the back of my fridge and thought... I wonder if I can make my own? I did, and they turned out GREAT. I just cut them up, brushed them with olive oil and salt, and baked at 350 for about 12-15 minutes (till they were crunchy). I can't believe they tasted just like the ones I was buying. Dh stared at the plate and said, "You do realize that's about $5 worth of store bought pita chips right there?" My bag cost me a dollar at Publix, plus a few minutes in the oven. I am kicking myself that I never tried this sooner. -- Username jnbythesea This recipe came from our recipe archive: http://mommysavers.com/boards/forumdisplay.php?f=5 ------------------------------ Online Coupon Sites Coupon Bar Download the FREE CouponBar and get quick and easy access to dozens of free grocery coupons on your favorite brand name products http://www.mommysavers.com/deals/coupon-bar.htm Eversave Join Eversave and you'll get FREE Samples, Coupons, and exclusive offers from America's top brands http://www.mommysavers.com/deals/eversave.htm Valpak Enter your zip code and find coupons specific to your area http://www.mommysavers.com/deals/valpak.htm Coolsavings Coolsavings offers great printable coupons for groceries, baby products, and much more. http://clickserve.cc-dt.com/link/click?lid=41000000010355040 More Online Coupon Resources: http://www.mommysavers.com/money-saving-ideas/online-coupon-sites.shtml ------------------------------ Coming Soon: Discussion Forum profile pages - Like MySpace! |
