I bought those "tree" air freshners you hang in your car and hadn't gotten around to putting in the car yet when the thought came to my mind to hang them around the house. I put one in the bedroom and also one in the living room. The rooms smell so fresh and it only cost me $1.00 for two of them. The previous week I had purchased your regular name brand freshners. You can hardly smell them and they cost about twice as much. Cindy, 44, from NE Wallpaper Remover We just bought a house in which the previous owners were HUGE fans of wallpaper borders! One in EVERY room! Spray window cleaner (Windex, Zep, or generic) works better than any store-bought wallpaper remover. You can either score the wallpaper, then spray on the window cleaner - or - begin peeling the patterned layer off (leaving the glue paper backing), then just spray and peel! It comes off in sheets with most wallpaper AND you don't have to wait the 20 or more minutes before you start to peel. An added bonus is that you're cleaning your walls at the same time! Huge time and frustration saver for us! -- Brenda, 33, from MN Kids' Crafts Never buy paper!! I have found that if you drop by your local printer they have boxes and boxes of scratch paper which they love to unload on you. You get a variety of sizes, weights and colors. These are perfect for kid's drawings, shopping lists and notes to teachers. -- Diane, 41, from IL We need YOUR tips for our newsletter! My income would be an extra $40,000, but I have gained so much more staying home with my two daughters. Do You Have a Budget? No not really, we pay the bills as they come in....I make sure we have the staples in the house, diapers, wipes, milk, juice, meat, veggies and then the other wants come next, (baking goods, already prepared food items, etc) We may not get to see a whole lot of movies, or are able to eat out like we used to, but being home all day and knowing what my kids are learning is more important. Advice to Moms Thinking of Staying Home: The only time I have to defend staying home is when things start to get tight. We wouldn't really be adding any extra income to the family by me going back to work after you pay for daycare, my professional wardrobe, lunch out, gas, dinners out, etc. We'd probably end up being negative if at all breaking even. If you want to stay do it now while they still need you at home assuming your kids are preschoolers. What good will it do to stay home once they're in school??? They'll be in school 7 hours of the day, yeah they'll know you're at home, but what joy is in that? We had a TREMENDOUS response to our survey. We will be bringing you several profiles in our newsletter in upcoming weeks. All the surveys will be available online next week. Look for more survey results in upcoming newsletters! ----------------------------- Other Resources for Moms: FREE Personalized Letter from Santa Have your child write to Santa and he'll send them back a personalized email. http://www.writetosantaclaus.com ----------------------------- Question of the Week: Besides clothes, what are some ideas to give kids for Christmas that are fun, yet practical? Who else has "had it" with the clutter of toys around their house? Let's share some ideas on what to get kids that will excite them, get used, yet not add to the household mess? Our question of the week has moved to our discussion board. That way, you can immediately see everyone's response. Click here: http://www.mommysavers.com/question_11.24.htm ----------------------------- What's Cookin': GARLIC CHEESE MASHED POTATOES 7 medium potatoes, peeled and boiled and mashed 1 C. shredded white cheddar cheese 1/2 C. sour cream 1/2 stick butter 1 Tbsp. chives 1 clove garlic, minced salt to taste Mix all ingredients well. Place in buttered casserole dish. Dot with butter and sprinkle lightly with paprika. Bake at 300 degrees for 30 minutes. -- Kim, 32, from MN We need YOUR recipes for our newsletter! Submit them here: http://www.mommysavers.com/share_tips.htm ----------------------------- Fun for You and Your Kids: Thanksgiving Crafts Thanksgiving Mobile: Collect birch sticks and then have cut outs ready with holes punched in them so the kids can string them, we did corn cobs, pilgrims, Indians, canoe, leaf, turkey, etc.....the cutouts are just construction paper or you could use die - cuts too.....this was neat for our 3-5 yr old preschoolers. Corn Cob Pictures: Kids can decorate a printed picture of a corn cob by gluing real popcorn kernels unto the page, just paste it on a thicker type paper, why not try "popped" corn too...., then add some "silk" with whatever you have lying around such as old embroidery thread Nature Walk: Go on a nature walk with your kids and collect items like colored leaves, acorns, and pine cones. Place in a basket and use as a centerpiece or a table decoration. These ideas are from our Thanksgiving page: http://www.mommysavers.com/celebrations/thanksgiving.htm ------------------------------ Please Visit Our Sponsors: Attention Moms!
