"An ounce of mother is worth a pound of clergy." -- Spanish Proverb

==============================================================

Hello!

I hit the Target 75% off sale last Friday and had SO much fun.  Not only did
I scoop up some Christmas items for next year, I got some Barbie stuff for
birthday gifts for next year at 75% off.  Sydney and I even made a
gingerbread house (a little late, yes, but we had fun!) from a kit which I
got for only $2.49!

I hope those of you who have been searching for post-holiday bargains are
having good luck as well.  Visit our site on a daily basis for new bargain
updates (we had a good one for $1.99 sweatpants at Old Navy on Friday).  My
new years' resolution is to add new things to the site every day!

Have a good week,

Kim Danger

Money/Time Saving Ideas:

Entertainment
My husband and I and three other couples started a DVD swap group.  Each
month, each couple buys a new-release DVD for around $20.  Then we swap DVDs
with the other three couples in our group.  We get to watch 4 new release
DVDs and have one to keep for ourselves for the same price as renting them.
We recently joined a DVD Club which saves us even more.  -- Candace from PA
*Editor's Note:  Join the Columbia House DVD Club this month and get 5 DVDs
for $0.49 shipped for free.  Click here for more information:

Mealtime
My husband came up with the best idea for keeping food stains off of our 3
boys shirts. He attached an alligator clip on either end of a small chain
and we use the chains as a napkin/bib holder. We secure an extra large paper
napkin around the boys necks (ages 8, 10, and 12)at meal times and they are
so convenient at home and in restaurants. It works just like a dental
bib. -- Cathy, 37, from TX

Gift Giving
Here's my game plan for almost all of my gift giving.  I start right after
Christmas by buying clearance items.  I keep doing this all year long as
well.  Kmart and WalMart both have clearance racks set out near the
checkouts and at other places in their stores.  I buy off of these all year
and put them into a huge tote in my basement.  When I need a gift there's
usually something in there appropriate for the occasion.

What's Cookin':  3 Can Soup

1 can corn
1 can Ro-Tel tomatoes
1 can black beans (drained and rinsed)

Combine in a pot and heat.  It's that simple!  Add a cheese quesadilla and
dinner is served.  Easily serves 4.  Sprinkle cheese on top if desired.  Can
be easily doubled or tripled for a crowd.

Drain leftovers, wrap in a tortilla with some cheese and microwave for a
quick lunch the next day! -- Laura, 31, from MO

Real Moms:  In the Kitchen

My favorite kitchen hint is to put hamburger meat into a gallon size ziplock
freezer bag and squash it flat and stack them in your freezer.  It takes up
much less space, doesn't roll out of the freezer on you and thaws in no time
at all! -- Rebecca, 37, from KY

My family's favorite dinner is chili beans and corn casserole.  The chili
beans consist of 1lb hamburger meat, 2 cans ranch style beans, and 2 cans
stewed tomatos. brown meat, drain, pour in cans of beans and tomatos, and
bring to a boil. I also add a little shredded cheese.  The corn casserole
consists of 1 can cream style corn, 1 can whole kernel corn, 1 box jiffy
corn muffin mix, 1 stick melted butter, 2 eggs, 8oz sour cream. mix
together, preheat oven to 375. pour in a greased 9x 13 pan, and bake for 45
min. It's wonderful. -- Sara, 23, from OK

Always fix enough for your husband to take something nutritous the next day
in his lunch. It saves on lunch money, and is healthier for him than
purchased food. -- Laurie, 39, from WV
