same person." -- Mignon McLaughlin

==============================================================

Hello!

I really enjoyed all the shopping tips you readers sent last week.
Keep them coming!  (Scroll down to read more).  I hit the Target toy
clearance and also the Old Navy clearance.  Now I have many of my
birthday/Christmas gifts for next year purchased already!  I just
hope Sydney doesn't find where I hid them.

Have a good week,

Kim Danger

Money/Time Saving Ideas:

Lunches
My son takes his lunch to school and I'm always on the lookout for new ideas
about different things he can take, but to be frugal about it too.  I get
the $.38/.48 (depending on whichever they have and if it's on sale) yogurt
that comes with a plastic reusable lid.  This way, I can make "box" pudding
and distribute it into the yogurt containers (after they've been washed, of
course!) and let it set.  When either of us is packing his lunch, we just
grab one of the containers and it's pudding to go w/o all the expense of the
pudding packaged by the stores.  You can also put jello, fruit cocktail,
etc. into these containers.  Just have your child bring them home to be
rewashed and re-used. -- Kim, 28, from OK

Coloring
I have a 4 year old who loves to color but the price of coloring books is
outragous!  I go onto the google search engine and type in free coloring
pages and can print out all kinds of different pages.  I do some scooby-do,
cinderella, barbie, farm animals etc... and make her a huge book useing both
sides of the paper.  There are many to choose from. Then use a 3 hole punch
and put them in one big folder/book.  After she has colored them all I put a
date on her favorite/best ones and keep them in the book so when she is
older she can see some of her artwork that she has done. -- Jamie, 32, from
WI

Milk
Here's a way to cut the cost of milk drastically. Switch to soy milk and buy
a soy milk maker. A quart of soy milk form a soy maker can cost as low as 10
cents a quart if you buy the soybeans in bulk. It's very easy to make soy
milk, and only takes me 15 minutes with with my soy milk maker. The only
catch it that the soy milk maker is very expensive, mine cost 108 dollars
ordered online. But when you figure the cost of milk of almost 3 dollars a
gallon, the machine will quickly pay for itself. -- Chris, 37, from NC
*Editor's Note:  We found one on Amazon.com that was $129 and is now $89!

Shopping Tips:

I just got back from running to Old Navy for a gift card and couldn't
believe the bargains I got in on.  All of their clearance items were
$1.97!!!  I got some beautiful holiday dresses that were normally $22.00 for
$1.97 each.  Now that's a deal!!  It's worth checking your local Old
Navy!! - Kari

Limited and Express are having their Final Winter Sale.. 75% off.. lots of
cool stuff. -- Christina from CA

My husband bought a set of flannel pjs for me from Victoria's Secret (@
$49.50!).  I needed a different size, and gladly returned them for a credit
to be used later.  I returned today to catch the additional 50% off already
marked down sleepwear sale.  I got a $78 bathrobe for $14.99, the exact same
pj set (different size) that my husband picked out for $9.99, and four other
pj sets for an out-of-pocket cost of $17!  Yippee!  Let's just say, it made
my day!  Good luck!

Organization:

Instead of toy boxes, I buy the clear plastic drawers: Walmart has some
really deep portable ones,  and label each one by category, for example,
people and animals, transportation, phones; you get the idea.  Then I cut
small pictures from magazines, or better yet, the box that the toys came out
of so that my four year old, my husband, or babysitters know how to put
things back.  It keeps it organized and is easier to clean up the toys. --
Lauren, 28, from PA

I post a list of family and friends birthdays/anniversaries on the
refrigerator right next to the calendar. I created the list in Microsoft
Excel and also added a formula to calculate the age/how many years married
using the present year. This way, I don't have to guess incorrectly and I
can send a card out that is personalized. -- Michelle, 34, from NY

We have a blended family, so to end a lot of confusion and fighting I
color-coded all of their towels blankets sheets etc.  Each kid gets their
favorite color: purple, blue, yellow, etc. and there is no more of the,"It's
not mine!" when I find a towel on the floor. -- Kim, 33, from NY

What's Cookin':  Easy French Dip

This is the easiest and one of the tastiest crock pot recipes...

4 lb. Chuck roast (trim fat)
1 can (10.5 oz) beef broth
1 can (10.5 oz) Condensed French Onion Soup
1 can beer

Place the roast in the crock pot.  Add the beef broth, soup, and beer.  Cook
on low for 7 hours.

Toast hoagie rolls.  Slice the meat on the diagonal and serve on toasted
buns.  Use the juice in the crock pot for dipping.  YUM! -- Jeanette, 35,
from IL

Real Moms: Money Saving Tips

I set aside $5 a week of my grocery budget to buy items with coupons that
have free after rebate forms.  I save all the money I get back for our
yearly trip to Outer Banks. -- Melissa, 25, from WV

The best money saving tip I have is to always check the area "Everything for
a $1 stores" before shopping anywhere else.  It's amazing what you can find
for $1. -- Rebecca, 37, from KY

Collect all the sale papers for the week, circle the best buys, set aside
coupons to be used and then go to Wal*Mart Supercenter because they match
ads.  Sometimes I luck out and find a grocery store that will have a weekend
for triple coupons. -- Theresa, 32, from AL

Fun for You and Your Kids:  Footprint T-shirt

You'll Need:
Fabric Paint
Paintbrush
White t-shirt

Paint your child's feet and press them onto a white t-shirt.  You can paint
them different colors and press them randomly over the shirt, or use one
colora nd make a trail of footprints up the front and down the back of the
shirt.  Personalize the t-shirt even more with an iron-on photograph or a
special message written in fabric paint.
