Happy Groundhog Day!  It looks like we're snowbound for another day; schools

Money/Time Saving Ideas:

Cereal Bags
I discovered one great tip when I needed wax paper to use to freeze my extra
pancakes. I found that the bag inside my favorite cereal (after being
cleaned and tore opened) was great.  I save extra also by carefully opening
the top and putting goodies in and tying with a ribbon for a quick gift. --
Nilda from NY

Decorating
Reading the Wall Art tip prompted me to share my decorating story.  When it
came time to paint my boys' bedroom I thought I would include them in the
process.  I let them paint a hand in their color choice and then
strategically place their "prints" around the top of their room as a border.
They chose complementary colors (purple and blue).  Then I painted a
horizontal red line under the handprints.  We also spray painted their
closet doors with green chalkboard paint (took about 3 cans) and placed a
set of handprints on each door. It really looks cute!  And the boys are
proud of their "artwork".  -- T.W., 37, from CA

I painted a door in my kitchen with chalkboard paint.  ($9 for a pint)
While I cook, my 2 year old draws, and I also have a great place to write
down messages and shopping lists!  It looks great too! -- Kathleen, 34, from
WA

Coffee
A friend of mine recently shared this tip for making inexpensive, easy and
delicious flavored coffee at home! Just put a few drops of pure vanilla
extract (to taste) in the bottom of your coffee pot and sprinkle some
cinnamon ( to taste) over the coffee grounds in the filter. Brew the pot
like you normally would and the result: a subtle, rich tasting coffee that
could easily pass for the store bought flavored coffee, without the
expense! -- Jennifer, 32, from WA

*Here's the link: http://www.mommysavers.com/deals/restaurant.com.htm

My husband did this for me and it was inexpensive, but thoughtful and
romantic. He framed our bathroom mirror with hot pink post it notes as a
valentines morning surprise. All of the post it's had one loving or
encouraging word written on them, i.e. beautiful, charming, disciplined,
loving, caring, etc. -- Lynn, 37, from MN

Make a Photo Card -- Using old photos, cut out your kids' pictures in the
shape of the letters L-O-V-E and glue onto a piece of colored paper. Write a
message inside.  I did this years ago and both my daughters still have them
hanging up on their bulletin boards in their rooms. -- Maureen, Austin, TX

Help Others This Valentine's Day

Brenda, 40, from VA writes, "My family and I have done this for two years in
a row.  It's a great way to say "I Love You" to someone else.  Spend time
with THEM making Valentine Cards for these (seemingly unloved) kids!!! I've
included the info needed. I thought it would be great if everyone signed
theirs "From ______, one of the mommies at Mommysavers.com!"

Help WAY-FM make this year's Valentine's Day even more special for the kids

Real Moms:  Mini Profile

Lisa, 35, from MN
Lisa is a Data Specialist and mom to three kids: Dan - 13; Alex - 11; and
Paige - 3 1/2.

In the Kitchen:
Chicken Salsa Hotdish

2 chicken breast chopped
2 cups salsa
1 cup water
2 cups corn (or any vegetable)
1 cup rice
cheddar cheese

In large skillet cook chicken until done. Add salsa, water and corn.  Cook
for 5 minutes. Add rice and cook for another 5 minutes. Sprinkle with
cheddar cheese and serve.  This is very easy and delicious.

Funny Things Kids Do/Say:
I was explaining something to my 3 1/2 year old that happened before she was
born and she wanted to know where she was, so I told her that she was in
mommies tummy and she looked at me so seriously and asked "did you eat me?"
We laughed hysterically!

Thanks, Lisa!  These great hints came from our Real Mom Profiles. Keep 'em
coming! To
