Editor's Note

Welcome to the Mommysavers Newsletter!                                     11.09.2007

If you tried to log onto Mommysavers last weekend, you couldn't.  The server was moved, a process that took much longer than expected.  The outage affected over 150,000 sites worldwide.  As a result, our newsletter is arriving a few days late this week.  We're glad to be back in business and apologize for the inconvenience.

Have a great weekend,

Kim

Money Saving Ideas

Frugal Stocking Stuffers I always get shampoos, conditioner, body wash, toothpaste, bath sponge and such for a dollar each at the dollar tree. I get them a few fun things too. -- Member Coolmamacat

Date Your Spouse for Less I stumbled across a great FREE date idea recently....programs at the library. Our local library has at least a dozen special community programs each month on a variety of topics. Next week, dh and I are going to a class on European cheeses complete with tastings! Who knows, we might even learn something! -- Member Marie 463

Keep a Medical Journal for Each Family Member This should include a record of doctor visits, immunizations, tests, medications, dental visits, hospitalizations, allergies, etc. This way you will have all the information in one place and may prevent tests/immunizations from being duplicated or performed too early (before the insurance will cover the procedure again). You will be able to tell which medicines worked better for certain illnesses/conditions. Plus, all the information is in one place. No rummaging through medical receipts for immunization dates for school and so forth. Save time and money! -- Member AyeOhKay

Filename: j0408993.jpgSet a Holiday Budget... And Stick to It!  by Kimberly Danger  Do you know how much you spent on Christmas gifts last year? Chances are you don’t. Too many people shop without a budget and are shocked when the credit card bills start rolling in come January. It is important to set a budget for your Christmas spending before you even begin to shop.

What's Cooking

Featured November Recipes: Holiday Treat Share your favorite recipes for cookies, breads, candies and other holiday goodies

Dish of the Week:  Maleesa's Meatballs
1 1/2 pound of ground meat: Meatloaf mix (1/3 of each beef, veal and pork) works best
Salt
Pepper
Lots of Italian Seasoning (2-3 Tablespoons)
Lots of fresh garlic minced
2 eggs
unseasoned bread crumbs
Olive oil
Vegetable oil

Mix meat, seasonings and eggs in a bowl.  Add enough bread crumbs (as you mix by hand) until eggs are soaked in and the meat isn't so wet.

Heat a frying pan (medium) with enough oil (60% olive oil, 40% vegetable oil) to cover the bottom. Shape the meatballs with your hand so they are firm and round (any size you like really but about 1 1/2 inches works best for me).  Fry until they are browned and then add them to sauce and let simmer for awhile.  I vary it sometimes and put fresh grated Romano and Parmesan in the meat, with a spritz of red wine or a little sauce.  MMM...so good!  Enjoy!
