Money Saving Ideas

Homemade Bug Catcher for Kids  I had some mayo jars left over -- the ones with the new wide mouth lid and rectangular (not the round ones). I thought it looked just like DD's bug catcher!  All I have to do now is find something for a magnifying glass. -- Member bananabellesmom

Instead of Goodie Bags  Even if you shop at the dollar stores or dollar bins you can spend a lot of money on the gift bags you give out at your child's birthday party. My girls went to a party and here's what they did. She had bought plastic pails at Michaels for $1.00 apiece. Then she had the foam letters so they got to spell out their names on the pails. They also had different animal faces you could pick from and put those on as well. She ended up spending less money on this craft idea then she would have on gift bags. Plus we got something she still uses in her bedroom for her smaller toys. -- Member Deemom

Eating on Vacations We try to stay at hotels that have continental breakfasts and fridges in the rooms. Then when we get to where is we are visiting we will visit a local grocery store, preferably away from the tourist sections. We buy chips, lunch meat, bread, and some snacks. We will usually eat out at lunch since it tends to be less expensive and eat dinner late at night when we get back to the hotel room. We also usually share an entree because at tourist places the portions are almost always huge! We spent a week traveling in Arkansas and Missouri last summer and our entire food budget was about $100. I also pack bottle water, drinks, and snacks for the driving portion so we don't get tempted to splurge on gas station snacks. -- Member greytrunner

Forget the Joneses

Forget the Joneses: April is our big month to declutter, purge, and gain a fresh new perspective on life!  We're also staring a weekly check-in thread to make sure everyone's actions are in line with their priorities.  Be sure to join us!

Step #33: Create Room for What You Want In Life  Decluttering is more than just getting rid of what you don’t want in your life anymore. It’s about creating room for new things and experiences to enter. What will getting rid of things allow you to do and accomplish? Here are some examples...
