Money Saving Ideas

Ice Cube Fun  Make playtime in the bath or backyard wading pool a little more colorful!  Add a few drops of food coloring to water in an ice cube tray. Freeze and then place a cube or two in the bath or pool.  Little ones enjoy picking them up and playing with them before they melt.

Half Price Books Summer Reading Program  Half Price Books is offering a summer reading program as well called Feed Your Brain. They have forms in the store. Your child reads 15 minutes a day. You can turn in 1 form a week. This has to be time the child reads, it can't be if you read to your child. Your child will get a $3 shopping card or a free kid's buffet at CiCi's pizza. That's the equivalent of a free book in the store. Plus, there is no limit on the number of weeks your child can enter. It goes until Sat Aug 2. If your child is a dedicated reader that could equal out to over 8 free books!  -- Posted by deemom

Stretch those Meals  Plan your meals so you can use the same type of ingredients for the week.  Use leftovers to make another meal. Double recipes and freeze half of what you make.  Use fillers (rice) or add only half the meat suggested for the recipe and use more pasta or whatever it calls for. Example. Make chili on the weekend then make Chili Macaroni (add macaroni and cheddar cheese), Stuffed Baked Potatoes (topped with chili), or Chili Pizzas (chili on English muffins, buns or bread w/cheese on top). -- Posted by Skimommy
