To take a peek, click here: http://www.mommysavers.com/bartering_board.htm ------------------------------ Money/Time Saving Ideas: Grocery Shopping I have copies of a detailed grocery list arranged according to the aisles of my supermarket posted on a bulletin board mounted inside my pantry cabinet. Whenever someone in my family notices that we are out of something, they know to go to the bulletin board and check the item. Each week I just grab the list and my grocery shopping is so much easier. -- Anne, 48, from OH Last-Minute Teacher Gift Idea As a member of a multi-generational family of teachers, I suggest that the best gifts are those our famiy calls "consumables," i.e. paper products, classroom supplies or the like. If this isn't practical then the BEST BEST gifts are gift certificates. Even a $5. certificate to a fast food restaurant is more useful than a memento or gift item -- we treasure them, but get too many to keep. Thanks for thinking of your teacher. -- Lee, 52, from MN We need YOUR tips for our newsletter! You can see here my son Kanthaprasad walking with his father Kathiravan on the beach. It was a candid shot." (they are along the bottom) and I was shocked to see that the price of a shield for the buttons was almost $20.00! I soon figured out that for $1.00, I could buy a cheap acrylic frame (the panoramic size works best) to do the same job. -- Cherryl, 38, from FL I buy my son's Levi's jeans (school pants) at Sears. I save all tags and receipts. They offer a free replacement pair when damaged(in the same size). My son is very hard on his knees and I've replaced the same investment 3 times this year! I wait until they go on sale and really "stock up"! You must have the tags and receipt to "exchange". -- Lori, 37, from IL My friends think I'm nuts, but I don't put any of my sons clothes in the dryer. I hang them dry and if they are a little wrinkled I put them in the dryer for about a minute to soften them. It keeps the colors looking brighter and they don't shrink. My friends end up buying more clothes because of the shrinkage, but mine last until they are outgrown, then I sell them on Ebay. -- Audrey, 41, from TX Do you have an original idea to save money on baby items? Spread on bottom of pan. Cover with diced scallions, shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, and the salsa of your choice. Cover with Mexican cheese, dig in and enjoy. No one will ever let me NOT make this dip for parties. It's a big hit every time! -- Jennifer, 29, from NJ ----------------------------- Real Moms: Chrissy, 33 from Kentucky Occupation: Budding Writer Family: Josh, 32; Meredith, 5; Nathaniel, 3. Funny Things Kids Do/Say: The other day my son spilled orange juice on the floor. As I was cleaning it up he yelled, "No Mommy! That's the antsies' bath!" Money Saving Tips: Never, and I mean NEVER pay retail!! Best Bargain Ever: A local toy store was going out of business and I saw a tattered brown box with $50.00 written on it. Judging by the box, it looked like junk, but inside I discovered a treasure trove of wooden train track pieces. Women who neglected to look in the junky box drooled over my find at the register. When I got it home and unpacked, I realized it was over $600 worth of thomas the Train tracks and accesories! This came from our Real Mom Profiles. Keep 'em coming!
