Mommysavers Newsletter -- Aug 2, 2004 Visit our site for more great resources: http://www.mommysavers.com "A mother is not a person to lean on, but a person to making leaning unnecessary." -- Dorothy Canfield Fisher ============================================================== Hello! What a BUSY week! We went to an open house last Sunday, and by Monday we had made an offer on a house. We will be moving at the end of August. Now the fun begins... getting our house ready to sell! No easy task with two kids, a dog and a cat. Last Thursday, we had a photographer come and shoot pictures of Sydney and I for a First for Women article that will run in September. We both got our makeup done by a professional makeup artist. Sydney was impressed that she had worked with Mary-Kate and Ashley. I was more impressed that she had cut Matt Dillon's hair last week! I empty the water out once a month. We swim almost every day. Each night after swimming, I put 2 cups of regular bleach into the water. This prevents algae from growing and the water stays clear. I bought a hand-held skimmer to remove debris that may fall into the water on windy days. Also, my mother got a new cover for her pool so I took a section of her old solar cover and cut a piece big enough to cover my kiddie pool. Now the water is warm! Also, I put a piece under the pool for added cushioning. My son (2 yrs old) loves the water, especially since it is not ice cold from the tap everyday! -- Judith, 33, from OH Back to School Shopping If you have a JC Penny Outlet store nearby GET THERE QUICK! There are super low prices right now on school uniforms for all age children. I also got some cute polo shirts for myself for $2.99 and full nursing scrubs (top and bottom) for only $14.00! Hope this helps! -- Jodi, 25, from PA We need YOUR tips for our newsletter! Still want it? Go back for it. A lot of stores will put the items on hold for you if you ask. Especially clothing stores. We also check out Goodwill every couple of weeks. You never know what treasures you can find. And our local Target sends clearanced merchandise there once a week. -- Jennifer, 34, from WI BARGAIN SHOP!!! Most dollar stores have shelf food for much cheaper such as cereal. Also, friends that have had children before are great for getting clothes from! -- Sheila, 21, from MN Coupons for items that you regularly use, and trading the ones you don't use with other people. There are several online swapping forums for this and everyone can get what they need. I scout all the sales ads and see who has the best sale and combine that with my coupons. I also buy clothes from resale shops and resell clothes there as well. -- Jenn, 30, from TX These great hints came from our Real Mom Profiles. Keep 'em coming!
