So after much debating on what to do, I ran across the kids floor puzzles. The ones that are shaped like Mr. Potato Head and Bob the Builder. I put them together and then glued them. Painted the room in bright colors and hung the puzzles on the wall. It is adorable and easy to change when the room needs to go to a "big" kids playroom. -- Sheila, 28, from OK Kids' Entertainment My two year old son LOVES the books on tape and attached book you can get at Borders for $9.99. To add to his collection, I take blank cassette tapes and his favorite books and read them myself onto the tape. Then he can listen in the car and read along. Great alternative to an on-board television or a whiny child in the backseat! Also, after reading books before bed, he often wants to keep reading the same book. Instead I'll put on the tape and he can listen before falling asleep! -- Courtney, 35, from NC Birthday Parties My kids love to have pinatas at their birthday parties, but they are so expensive. I found a way to make a pinata from a grocery bag. You punch 2 holes on each of the long sides of the bag, to put string or ribbon, whatever you want to use to hang it. You let the birthday child decorate it, from faces to hanging streamers from the bottom. It is easy to break for younger kids and they get to be proud that they made it themself. -- Wendy, 35, from MN We need YOUR tips for our newsletter! When cooled, cut round one in half & add to 2 connecting sides of the square to form a heart-shaped cake, ready for icing & decorating. 2) Send your addressed & stamped valentine inside a larger envelope to: POSTMASTER, Attn: Valentine's USPS Loveland, Colorado 80538. If they receive it a week in advance of Valentine's day, your sweetie(s) will receive their valentine postmarked with a "Love, CO" postmark. -- Ann, 33, from PA For more fun Valentine's Day ideas, click here: http://www.mommysavers.com/celebrations/valentines_day.htm ----------------------------- What's Cookin': "TO MY VALENTINE" OATMEAL COOKIES 2 1/2 c. sifted flour 1/2 tsp. salt 3/4 c. sugar 1 egg 1 c. oats (uncooked) 1 tsp. baking powder 3/4 c. oleo 2 Tbsp. milk 1 tsp. vanilla Mix all ingredients well and roll on lightly floured board to 1/4-inch thick. Cut in heart shapes. Bake on greased cookie sheet about 15 minutes at 350 degrees. Like chicken soups, turkeys, baked ziti, etc. -- Robin, 39, from NJ I try to fix at least one meal a week that we can use the left-overs for another meal. Usually I make a roast of some kind for one meal and use the leftovers for something else... barbecue, stews, or salads. -- Mary, 33, from GA Even if you only have a top freezer, you can make things ahead of time and freeze them. This cuts down on daily time in the kitchen and actually reduces the cost of groceries by keeping you from going as often. Just make sure that the foods you make ahead were from foods that were on sale and you will save even more. -- Sharon, 38, from KS These great hints came from our Real Mom Profiles. Keep 'em coming!
