Money/Time Saving Ideas:

Couponing/Wholesale Foods
Use the coupon system. Here in Adelaide (South Australia) we have many local
businesses advertising on the back of shopping dockets. Some might be for
photos or cheap meals/coffee deals etc, but when you want to take a friend
out for a coffee, why pay for two when you can take along a coupon and get
the second for free? Join coffee clubs. You go there regularly to have a
coffee, then why not, if they are available in the USA, take advantage of
the 'Buy 7 and recieve the 8th coffee free'? Costs nothing to join. Another
saving that I have found very good is a food co-op. This takes a bit of
organising, but if there are two or three moms/dads willing to go to a
wholesaler and sort and pack, then it is worth the effort. We had aus $10
shares and that was plenty at times for a single person in fruit and vegs.
Five or six families/ share holders is a good number. We stuck to the basics
and this worked out well. The same could be done for groceries, although it
might be a bit more work. -- Kerry, 45, South Australia

Groceries
My tip saves money, time, and energy.  I buy color and green bell peppers
cheap, either at the farmer's market or I pick out ones with little "spots"
at the supermarket and ask them to mark them down for me. I also buy onions
when they're on sale.  Then I sit down and watch a DVD and cut them all up.
Some sliced in strips, some diced.  Bag up in ziplocs and freeze. When it's
dinnertime, I can grab a few handfuls of peppers and onions and some meat or
chicken and voila!... instant stir-fry.   I am in a wheelchair and doing all
the slicing and cutting at one time saves a LOT of energy.  Now about
bargain ground meat.  I am in a coupon co-op and one thing I really welcome
is coupons for Wampler/Pilgrim's Pride ground turkey or chicken products.
The coupons are either 55?? or $1.  Super WalMart sells Pilgrim's Pride
ground turkey for $1.06 for a 1-pound package. -- Rani, 45, from FL

Fun for You and Your Kids:  Fridge Art

When my children were younger, I put up a clear contact on one side of the
fridge and let them draw with white board markers. This has to be cleaned
off pretty quickly after the drawing is done with though, because the
contact stains. When it gets too grubby, take off the contact and put up a
new sheet. This saves the walls being your 'art gallery' -- Kerry from South Australia

What's Cookin':  Santa Fe Enchiladas

1 1/2 lbs ground beef
1 med. onion, chopped
1 can (12-oz) tomato paste
1 cup water
1 envelope taco seasoning
10 flour tortillas, warmed
1 jar (8-oz) Cheez Whiz
1 can (4-oz) chopped green chilis, drained, optional

Brown hamburger and onion and drain. Stir in tomato paste, water, and taco
seasoning and heat through. Spoon about 1/3 cup meat mixture down the center
of each tortilla and roll up tightly. Set remaining meat mixture aside.
Place tortillas seam side down in a greased shallow 2 1/2 quart dish.
Combine cheese sauce and green chilis and microwave for 1 minute to soften,
stir. Pour cheese mixture over tortillas. Spoon remaining meat mixture down
the center of the tortillas. Put in oven at 325* for 20 minutes or until
heated through. -- Cam's Mommy

Real Moms:  Money Saving Tips

Shop for basics such as milk, eggs, cheese, bread at Aldi's (much cheaper
than most other grocery stores). Watch for sales on diapers and then use
coupons too.  Buy clothing from resale shops or on Ebay, get name brand
clothing for just a fraction of the original price. -- Jennifer, 31, from MO

Try one meatless meal a week!  It will help you save.  Also when you really
don't want to make dinner save the money and have your husband cook instead
of going out.  -- Nicole, 25, from OH

I shop for bargains.  I try never to pay full price.  I LOVE the Macy's
clearance rack.  You honest find better deals and quality than some of your
every day Charlotte Russe type stores. -- Angel, 38, from CA
