Mommysavers Newsletter -- July 25, 2005 Visit our site for more great resources: http://www.mommysavers.com "The best inheritance a person can give to his children is a few minutes of his time each day." -- O. A. Battista ============================================================== Hello! We just got done entertaining two groups of 25+ people last week. We had a blast, but we're tired and looking forward to a quieter week. Summer is going by WAY too fast. Have a great week! When my foaming pump dispenser is empty, I fill it with approximately 2 parts liquid hand soap and 1 part water, replace the top and gently tip bottle back and forth until mixed (shaking will cause it to bubble more than blend). Foaming dispensers (Johnson's Kids, Soap Works, Dial Complete) are so easy for my small children to use and rinses off so easily, now I just refill instead of buying new ones. -- Renee, 41, from NY Cleaning The first is more of a reminder that baby wipes do an awesome job of cleaning kids shoes. A quick wipe down adds a ton of life to the shoes. -- Katy, 35, from MD Price Matching Shop Walmart and make sure to take your list of price-match items. They do not hesitate to price-match from ANY store and I've saved absolutely tons of money by doing this. They also accept coupons. It's much easier that buzzing around to 4-8 stores to get items when I can get them all under one roof! -- Rebecca, 34, from AZ We need YOUR tips for our newsletter! Minnie used to hide when we would get the camera out. Since Grant's birth, she runs into the room to get in on the photo opportunity. Grant is 4 months old in this photo." Submitted by: Lorrie N. How did such tiny creatures become so expensive? Here are a few ways to save that deliver the biggest bang for your buck http://www.mommysavers.com/moneysavingideas/top_five_ways_to_save_in_baby.htm ----------------------------- Thrifty Fun: Exercise Equipment Looking for cheap or free exercise equipment? Visit garage sales. After a weekend or two of going to garage sales in your area you probably could outfit your own gym for as much as it cost to buy one treadmill at a sporting goods store. Also, subscribe to your local freecycle list. For more information visit http://www.freecycle.org . People are always giving away exercise equipment on my local freecycle list. One word of caution, exercise equipment takes up a lot of space. Make sure you have more room for it and make sure you use it! Use a Tea Light in Pillar Candles If you like to decorate with large pillar candles, but don't like it when they get short, just let them burn down to the height you like, pour out the extra wax to form a hollow inside of the candle. Slip in a tea light and then you can just change tea lights each time you want to have candlelight. By QueenBeeCrafts Tips courtesy of ThriftyFun. Add 1 box of au gratin potatoes, and add milk and water according to package directions for "stove top." Cook until potatoes are tender. The Children's Place website has an online outlet that frequently offers clothing for $3.99 and under. Click on "Shop Outlet" when you visit their site. http://www.mommysavers.com/deals/childrens_place.htm #476. Wait for Gymboree's Circle of Friends Sales (30% off) and Gymbucks periods (buy $50, get $25 to spend later) to shop. Combine these sales with clearance merchandise, and you can save quite a bit. Here's a bonus: Gymboree stores will often only display merchandise from their most recent lines on the sales floor. Clothing from past lines that didn't sell is often stored in the back room. Because these pieces have been around the longest, they've seen the most markdowns. If you ask, you may be able to take a peek or have the sales associate bring out what they have in the size you're looking for.
