Hello!

Sydney is starting kindergarten next week, and Nicholas will also be
celebrating his second birthday this Thursday.  Can my kids be THAT old
already?  I made some fun train invitations for his party.  To view the
picture I used, visit:

I'm also working hard to get the site more organized and user-friendly.
Check out the new site directory to see what fun categories and topics we

Money/Time Saving Ideas:

Beauty
I have discovered an inexpensive facial moisturizer that works as well as
some of the bigger named and more expensive brands.  Johnson & Johnson's
baby lotion for sensitive skin has worked beautifully for my face adding
just the right amount of moisture and leading to no breakouts whatsoever.
It is hypo-allergenic and it costs only about $1.50 for 6-8 oz. I have used
many expensive "good" moisturizers and this has worked just as well as any
of them! -- Amy, 41, from MN

Discipline
I made a sticker chart for my children (age 10 and 3).  It was very easy and
cheap.  I took construction paper, put their names at the top of each page,
and let them help decorate them.  When we were through, I put the desired
behavoir or chore on it.  At first I picked the three main problems we were
having with them. If they have done all three things that day, then they got
a sticker.  When they get 7 stickers they get a surprise out of the surprise
bag (their choice) and when they get 14 they get to rent a movie and have
pizza.  So far so good, it really seems to be helping.  For the prizes I
just pick up cheap toys (dollar store) or school supplies that they like but
are not on list (gel pens, etc.). They don't know what is in the bag until
they get to pick, and it always changes.  -- Andrea, 28, from TX

Picture of the Week: "Cousins"
Submitted by Love C. of Early Winters, WA.  Love writes, "This is a photo of
my daughters, Aubrie age 15 months and Miranda age 3 1/2, meeting their new
baby cousin, Keaton. As you can see, they were enamored with him, but he
wasn't too sure what to think of all that love! The look on all of their
faces says it all..."

Thrifty Fun:

Organizing Email
I treat email just like a paper file. I don't like to let email pile up in
my in box just like I don't like paper piling up on my desk. I make sure I
file all email into one of the folders I have created. I also create filter
that automatically files email from certain people in the appropriate
folder.

Organizing Baby Clothes
Quite often when you buy or are given baby or toddler clothes they come in
outfits. A matching top and bottom, maybe even with a matching hat. One way
to keep these items together is to fold them and put them in large zip-lock
bags before putting them away. You will be able to easily see the outfit and
the bags and be used over and over again.

What's Cookin':  Oven Parmesan Chicken

Boneless skinless chicken breasts
Italian dressing
Grated (real) parmesan cheese
Italian breadcrumbs
1/2 packet Lipton onion soup mix
Italian herb seasonings
Garlic powder
Artichoke hearts/red peppers (optional)

Marinate chicken breasts in zip bag in some Italian dressing. On a plate,
mix grated cheese, breadcrumbs, soup mix, and seasonings. I just toss some
of everything until it's a nice pile & looks enough for however many chicken
breasts I have. If I run out of dry ingredients, I can always toss some more
together. Dredge each piece chicken into the dry mixture, covering it really
well, and put into baking pan (I use a pyrex pan). If there is any dry
mixture leftover, just sprinkle it over the chicken in the pan. Optional: to
make it extra fancy, put 1 artichoke heart on top of each chicken, an a
couple cut up strips of red pepper too.

Bake at 350 for 45 minutes. Serve with steamed broccoli & rice pilaf.
Everyone always loves it! You can use stuffing crumbs instead of
breadcrumbs, too.

Real Moms:  Bargain Hunting Strategies

I get everything at Wal-mart or Target. I wait til they get marked down.
Like now, I am buying her clothes for next summer and getting them for
CHEAP. As low as $1.98. Target and Wal-mart always have good deals. I also
get alot the clothes from Friends or Family.  I also shop at a store called
Once Upon A Child. They sell new or gentley used clothes for cheap. --
Tristin, 23, from Coon Rapids, MN

Dilliards - shop the 75% off racks and I love the sales where they have the
extra 30% off of all clearance merchandise.  They will notify you of these
sales if you get on their email lists. I usually get all of next years
clothes that way and will pay about $5 for nice outfits
Gymboree - I love to shop when they offer the extra 20-30% off sales, the
same idea with the email lists
Target - I love to shop the backs of the aisles for clearance deals at
Target. -- Jennifer, 27, from Covington, LA
