Mommysavers Newsletter -- October 10, 2005 Visit our site for more great resources: http://www.mommysavers.com "A suburban mother's role is to deliver children obstetrically once, and by car for ever after" -- Peter de Vries ============================================================== Hello! Our October theme is "Step Outside Your Comfort Zone". In the next few weeks you'll see lots of new resources added to the site to help moms do just that. Last week I was forced to step outside my own comfort zone because I was without my computer for three days. It made me realize just how attached to that machine I really am! Since we are on a budget, we pick a person's house each time and when it is the girl's turn, all the guys get together and keep the kids at one house while the girl's have a potluck dinner and rent movies or whatever at a different house and then vice versa when it is the guys turn. We get a basically free meal, free entertainment and a free babysitter plus lots of time for everybody to play together. -- Brandy, 28, from NC Ring Cleaner When getting my ring re-sized, I asked the jeweler what kind of cleaner he used and he said use Greased Lightning. Just put a little in a cup (you can dilute if you want), sit your ring in for a few minutes, then rinse off and use an old SOFT toothbrush. It will look better than new. You can get it at Wal-Mart, and it works wonders. Stains that were on the kitchen counters that we had used all sorts of other products on just came right off. It works great as a laundry pre-treater too. -- Amanda, 21, from FL Bath Toys Got a mess in the bathroom with bath toys everywhere? After frustration with bath nets falling off the walls, toys in every corner of the tub, and no easy solution in sight, I came up with this: we use a milk crate (I picked up a purple one at Wal-Mart for a couple of dollars). The toys go in it, and it goes back in the tub after bath time! The toys dry with no musty/mildewy smell between baths! I just pull the shower curtain closed, and they're out of sight! When I need to take a shower, I just pull the whole crate out of the tub, and then I put it back when I am finished! -- Kim, 33, Lafayette, Indiana We need YOUR tips for our newsletter!
