Money/Time Saving Ideas:

Savings on Meat
Whether looking to stretch beef at the last minute or to save money, try
this: When making a meal w/ seasoned meat, such as tacos, try adding oatmeal
to the meat.   It sounds strange, but it absorbs the flavor and texture and
expands your hamburger.     It worked for us in a pinch!    I added about
1/4 C uncooked oatmeal per lb of hamburger.   -- Darci from Papillion, NE

Cleaning
Soak paper towels in vinegar and place on faucets gushing into all areas of
the faucet or other stainless pieces.  Leave for 1/2 to one hour.  When the
paper towel is removed all water spots, lime residue are gone leaving them
looking like new. -- Jeani, 42, from Oconomowoc, WI

If you have powder dishwasher soap then you can use it to clean pans or
skillets that have burned on  food. What you do is sprinkle some in the
bottom of the pan add a little water and then boil it for a few minutes.
This will loosen the stuck on food and allow for an easier clean up with out
all the scrubbing. Plus it will make you house have a clean smell.
-- Andrea, 28, from TX

Christmas Ideas:  Puzzle Ornaments

Our Christmas always is special because of all the cute little homemade
decorations my girls have made over the years. Our tree is made almost
completely made of homemade ornaments!!! It's very special to my girls.
Here's just a couple of ideas they have done through the years---purchase a
cheap puzzle, the kind with the mini pieces. Have the kids paint the pieces
red and green using craft paint. Let them dry, then glue them (overlapping)
in the shape of a wreath. You can also glue a picture in the center. Another
idea is to buy popsicle sticks (the kinds with the grooves on the edges).
Have the kids paint them white. When the paint is dry, apply Elmer's glue
and have the kids sprinkle with glitter. After they're dry, glue 3 sticks
together in the centers, making a snowflake! -- Dawn

What We're Talking About:  Forum Questions

Itchy, Itchy, Itchy
Can anyone tell me what is going on with my body? About 2 weeks ago I had
trouble falling asleep because I'd have an itch on my elbow, then my neck,
then my ankle, then my knee, arm, etc. Just quick little itches. Finally
fell asleep. A few days later my entire lower back itched like mad & I
scratched scratched scratched until I had fingernail marks all over...

Daycare Provider/Teacher Gift Suggestions
I just don't know how to handle the Christmas gift thing. I want to get her
something small but at the same time with us moving I don't have any extra
cash to be spending or the the time to be crafty. I don't know what I should
do-or if I really need to. Also should I be doing something for his
teacher(s) and aide at school? What teachers do you give gifts to?

5th Grade Christmas Craft Ideas
HELP! Somehow, I've been designated as my dd's Holiday Craft Mom! It's a one
hour "holiday" party in a very tight fifth grade classroom of 31 10 & 11
year olds. I need any and all suggestions for crafts boys as well as girls
can do at their desks in about 45 minutes. We don't have much time for
"drying" so painting will have to be done quickly. I only have $20 to spend!

Real Moms:  In the Kitchen

I throw fresh baby spinach in a lot of dishes - casseroles, soups,
sauces...a great way to get extra vitamins. -- Susan, 40, from Orange Park,
FL

I keep all the kids snacks and cereal in a cabinet that is low enough that
they can get to.  So if I am busy and cannot stop to get them something they
will be able to get themselves something. I also have Nicholas's cups low
enough that he can pick his cup just like everyone else, this helps him feel
"like a big boy." -- Andrea, 28, from Nocona, TX

Easy Raspberry Truffle: Tear up one angel food cake into 3/4 inch pieces,
put on bottom of bowl, then add sugar free raspberry Jell-o (which has whole
raspberries in it) you make it, but don't let it set completely.  Put the
Jell-o on top of the cake then put a layer of raspberry yogurt on top of
that, repeat layers and voila! You have a sugar-free desert! -- Darci, 34,
from Wells, MN
