"Never worry about the size of your Christmas tree.  In the eyes of
children, they are all 30 feet tall."  -- Larry Wilde, The Merry Book of
Christmas

==============================================================

Hello!

Now that my Christmas cards are (almost!) ready to send, I'm going to take on
ornament-making with the kids.  If anyone has some great ideas for me to
try, please post them here:
http://www.mommysavers.com/discussion/index.php?showtopic=22531. Tune in next
week to hear how it went, and see some fun (and probably messy)
photos!

Also, I just updated our 2005 Holiday Bargain Shopping Guide to include ideas
for teachers, Grandma, and Dad.  It's right here:

Have a great week!

Kim

Money/Time Saving Ideas:

Cooktop Cleaning
Dry baking soda cleans ceramic cook tops very well and is a lot cheaper than
the cook top cleaners you purchase in a store.  Just dump about 1/4 cup dry
baking soda on your dry cook top, rub with a dry paper towel.  After you've
rubbed away any spills, suck it all up with your vacuum and see your shiney
cook top.  (Also helps deoderize your vacuum!) -- Laura, 42, from Kenmore,
WA

Missing gloves?
We always seem to have several odd gloves that are missing their mates.
When I was going through the winter box this year, I decided to make an
emergency bag for each car that has extra winter clothes in it - just in
case!    I took the extra gloves and hats that are missing the coordinating
mittens and scarves and put them in a bag in the car.    I'm not spending
extra money on the emergency clothes and in the unlikely case that they need
the clothes I doubt they'll be worried what they look like!   -- Darci, 30,
from NE

Perfect Low Cost Grandparent Gift!

I have grandparents who don't have email so they don't receive the updated
pictures of my kids I send out from my digital camera. For Christmas this
year, I've decided to give them a "certificate" for a new set of pictures
sent to their house bi-monthly throughout the year. Most companies that
upload pictures will send them to whatever address you request. My
favorite is Winkflash www.winkflash.com. They have $.12 photos and only
.99 cent shipping!  For less than $3 I can send my grandparents 15 new
pictures of the kids.  If I do this 6 times a year, I have a great gift
for less than $20. Not only do the grandparents love it, but it helps
my budget by spreading the spending out over the year. -- Darci, 30, from
Papillon, NE

Restaurants: Kids Eat Free Nights
I read on here a awhile back that someone had composed a list of all of the
restaurants that honor kid discounts, whether it be a free meal or a .99
meal on a certain night. Does anyone have that information?

Cinnamon Spice Craft Dough

1 cup apple sauce
1 cup cinnamon
1 teaspoon nutmeg
1 teaspoon cloves

Mix until the dough has the consistency of play dough, adding more apple
sauce or cinnamon as needed. Roll flat, dusting countertop and rolling pin
with cinnamon if dough sticks. Cut out shapes with knife or cookie cutter.
Use a toothpick to make a hole for hanging. Dry at room temperature for 5-7
days, turning over at the end of the third day to ensure even drying.

I take cookies I've made and fill up a pretty Christmas glass, wrap with
plastic wrap and tie up with a nice bow and viola!  It's a perfect gift for
teacher, hair dresser, or anyone you know.  -- Posted by user ksmom in our

Real Moms:  In the Kitchen

I throw fresh baby spinach in a lot of dishes - casseroles, soups, sauces,
etc.  It's a great way to get extra vitamins. -- Susan, 40, from Orange
Park, FL

Breaded Chicken -- Buy chicken breast like a pound or two.Cut into smaller
pices like the size of two fingers, Melt half a stick of butter or
margierine.(You can also use egg instead of butter.)Put some bread crumbs on
a plate. What ever season you know the kids will enjoy. Put the chicken into
the butter then into the bread crumbs. Roll it around to make sure its
covered good. Then into a baking pan or a foiled sheet.  This is a fun
dinner for the kids to help out with. Bake for 20 minutes on 350 degrees. --
Vanessa, 24, from Tucson, AZ
