Mommysavers Newsletter -- January 9, 2006 Visit our site for more great resources: http://www.mommysavers.com "A mother is a person who seeing there are only four pieces of pie for five people, promptly announces she never did care for pie." -- Tenneva Jordan ============================================================== Hello! I'm getting SO excited about launching the site's new look. I think it will be ready in the next week or so. I'm looking for volunteers to submit photos of their kids/families/themselves w/kids to be featured in some of the new graphics. I'm especially looking for natural, uncluttered backgrounds. If you think you have a cute photo that qualifies, e-mail it to me at: sydney@mommysavers.com. We have a lot of apparel deals to share this week, unfortunately most of them are for your hubby, not you! This week I'll be on the lookout for more cute "mom" fashions to add to the site! I buy when Christmas stuff goes on for 75% off. Last year, I bought 6 cute little snowman dishes for .50 each that I filled with a mix of 5 different types of Hershey Kisses (on sale this week for $1.88 a bag) for a grand total of 6 gifts for $12.40. I also bought bags that normally are for cookie trays at the dollar store which were 3/$1.00, so including wrap, I spent $14.40 for 6 gifts. I also love the Hallmark stores. Check out their discount areas. I got 2 candle box sets with a holder and 12 candles for $2.00 each. Not a bad teacher's gift either. -- Kelly, 37, from VA Winter Wear I have marked my older boys' gloves with fabric paint to keep them from getting lost. This has worked wonderfully. Before they would lose a glove almost daily!! This fall I decided to paint our last name on the gloves with fabric paint. This worked especially well with the dark colors where a permanent marker doesn't show up. The boys love having their name on their gloves in bright colors and the fabric paint doesn't wash off. I enjoy no more lost gloves!! Maybe next year I will let them paint their own patterns/desings. -- April, 34, from WI Kids' Clothes I have found a cute way to save money on kids clothes is to buy things like jackets (that both my daughter and son will be able to wear) in unisex colors and add iron on patches or other decorations that can easily be removed when outgrown and new gender-appropriate deco can be put on! For example, I had a cute jean jacket that I dressed up by ironing on butterfly patches on the pockets, which easily came off when my son needed the jacket . -- Elisa, 29, from Thornton CO ------------------------------ This Week: Real Mom Profile: Angela, 39, from Woodstock IL This mom of two shares her insider industry secrets on finding deals on groceries... http://www.mommysavers.com/real_moms/1.10.2006-angela.htm Picture of the Week: "Little Santa" Submitted by Brenda from St. Paul Here's our little Santa... the best gifts aren't always found UNDER the tree. Our little boy, Kellen, was born October 27, 2005. http://www.mommysavers.com Working Mom Profile: Melissa, 30, from Ohio Melissa enjoys the flexibility of her home-based business as she raises three young children... http://www.mommysavers.com/work-at-home-moms/wahm-ideas-1.6.2006.htm ------------------------------ Deals for Moms: January Tupperware Specials: Buy 1, Get 1 Free Super Cereal Storers-Get Organized in 2006! Different kinds can be saved together. Then use this as a base for just about any kind of soup, not just vegetable. Gives it a very rich flavor! You can also save the juice from canned fruit, freeze, and use to make smoothies! Yum! -- Brenda, 39, from Katy, TX ------------------------------ Coming Soon: A new look for Mommysavers! |
