Money/Time Saving Ideas:

Soap
For those bars of soap that get too small to use, I have a pump container
that has a handful of medium sized plastc beads in it. You just put the
scraps of the bar soap and some water in the container (softens the soap)
and you have liquid soap from the pump. My kids really love it. -- Deborah,
44, from KY

Beauty
I use hair detangler on my daughter to brush out the knots, but I have to
spray a lot and was buying two bottles a week.  I mixed conditioner and
water in an empty bottle. It works just as well and cost a lot less. --
Helen, 39, from VA

Dishes
Why spend money on those expensive rinse aides for your dishwasher when good
old vinegar will do. We have very hard water and the glasses always looked
cloudy and the stainless steel inside the dishwasher was always stained.
Voila I filled the rinse aide dispenser with vinegar and I've had sparkling
dishes and a shiny dishwasher every since. I now have my Mom and son doing
it at their homes with the same wonderful results. There is no vinegar taste
so you don't have to worry about that. -- Diana, 49, from AZ

Real Moms: Money Saving Strategies

I am a big coupon user.  I also try to plan fun things with the girls that
don't cost anything.  A picnic at the park for a 3 year old is as fun as a
day at an amusement park.  Feeding the ducks at a local pond is exciting for
everyone, plus no lines or hassles. -- Sonya, 33, from AL

I find I spend a lot less if I only go to the grocery store once a week.
Shop for next years clothing when they go out of season this year. Find a
good Thrift store for toys and kids play clothes. -- Cindi, 33, from GA

COUPONS and clearances. And finding the store with the best deals. Also
using a cash budget is wonderful for us. I can't believe we love it, but we
do. -- Kim, 31, from PA

Cooking instead large quantity of food and freezing them in portion instead
of buying prepared frozen meals. -- Anna, 34, from MN

Fun for You and Your Kids: Video Time Capsule

You'll Need:
Video camera
Videotape

If you have access to a video camera, consider taping a Birthday Time
Capsule (see last week's newsletter
http://www.mommysavers.com/newsletter_archives.htm ) instead of writing it
down.  Ask questions of younger children.  Older children may enjoy just
talking about themselves and their day-to-day life.  Once the time capsule
is taped, put the tape away and don't watch it until the following year on
your child's birthday.  If you do this for more than one child, use a
different tape for each.  Add a new segment each year, keeping previous ones
as well.  Over the years, you will be able to watch your child grow up on
his time capsule tape.
