I go to the grocery store early in the morning and go directly to the meat department. I look for the reduced meats. They may have the sell-by date the day you are there, but they're not outdated. I buy what I need and put it in the freezer. I save from $1.00 up to $5.00. -- Brenda, 56, from Gulf Shores, AL Dryer Sheet Replacement I started using 1/2 cup to a cup of white vinegar in the rinse cycle. It cuts the residue of the soap and is a deodorizer. It will make 'em soft and smell clean. The vinegar smell goes away when they dry, there is no odor. It's also color safe. I found this when my son got Eczema and the pediatrician told me to stop using dryer sheets and fabric softeners. Savings on Formula Register with the formula companies for coupons and samples. They have been sending me lots of $5 coupons. I realized that I can get the ready-made formula for about 29-74 cents a bottle, depending on where I buy it. The purchase amount has to be bigger than the amount of the coupon. I bought $70 worth of formula the other day for twenty-something dollars! Our society is so immersed in wastefulness that it's hard NOT to just toss things that we're taught are trash. Maybe it's time to relearn what is trash and what is not? Because it was manufactured to be thrown away when it has done its main job doesn't mean it isn't good enough to do yet another job... http://www.mommysavers.com/discussion/index.php?showtopic=31743 What's Your Best Cheap Organizing Tip We just bought a new home so we are soooooooo broke from forking out all the cash for the down payment. But we also want to throw out a lot of stuff and organize everything. So I would really appreciate all of your cheap clever organizing tricks. http://www.mommysavers.com/discussion/index.php?showtopic=31101 Help Cutting Down on Caffeine My goal is to stop taking in so much caffeine. I drink 4-5 cans of soda a day and probably 2 -3 of the bottled Starbucks mocha you can buy at the gas station. I do have a HUGE problem with my weight but, I feel, that until I can get my eating and drinking under control I'll continue to fail at diets. http://www.mommysavers.com/discussion/index.php?showtopic=31259 Dreams: If Money Weren't an Issue, What Would You Do? You've just won the Powerball Jackpot. You'll have more than enough money to happily live out the rest of your life. Now that money isn't a concern, what will you do with your time? http://www.mommysavers.com/discussion/index.php?act=ST&f=37&t=32187 ------------------------------ Winners: Brenda Vicars of Gulf Shores, AL Mary Shore of Cedar Park, TX Lisa Wiley of Blanch, NC Cheryl Richardson of Ft. Worth, TX Susan Allen of Tempe AZ Kristen Jones of Stow, OH Linda Hennessy of Logan, IA Maria Teare of Cissna Park, IL Tracy Wachtman of Defiance, OH Tara Golden of Quincy MA The women listed above will each be receiving a "Bailey's Billions" DVD! ------------------------------ Creative Kidstuff: Felt Storyboards I have a weakness for felt story sets, but they are expensive. I never feel like tackling making my own at 9pm when I have my thirty minutes of free time. But recently I found printable templates for several sets online. I printed out the Brown Bear, Brown Bear set in color on some of my scrapbooking cardstock, glued felt to the back (doublesided white felt from Walmart) and presto! Instant story set. It took me less than thirty minutes and they turned out great! I will definitely be making more. The cardstock makes them more durable than plain paper. You can also laminate the cardstock and put magnets on the back for a magnetic story board. This came from our Creative Kidstuff forum: http://www.mommysavers.com/discussion/index.php?showforum=42 ------------------------------ New!
