Money Saving Tips:  Frugal Gardening

I began several years ago buying small perennial plants.
I buy a few every year to add to an area or start a new area.
If you buy smaller plants they are much cheaper but you have
to be very patient to watch them grow over the years to fill
in the space. -- Username Louhoo

We bought a huge bag of wildflower seeds at Lowe's for $9.00.
There are so many seeds, it should cover all the areas I want
to do. There is no arrangement of flowers, which is fine with me,
and they are supposed to attract butterflies and hummingbirds.
-- username Princessabby

When we moved to this house & had no gardens, I told my friends
and family that I was looking for free plants, so if they had
any perennials that needed dividing, to let me know. I received
free daylilies, hostas, black eyed susans, shasta daisies, bee balm,
bleeding heart, and irises. They are all perennials and they spread,
so I've been able to give them away to others. -- username Calimari

Picture of the Week: "I Love Lilly"
Submitted by Melissa of Bradley, WV
Melissa writes, "These were my youngest two (of four) children on
Easter morning. They are ages two years (Savannah Noelle) and six weeks
(Lilliana Rose). I think this picture is priceless as the baby is much
bigger than this 2 weeks later. I think they will end up best friends."

Mother's Day Crafts: Spa Gift Basket

For Mothers Day, you can make a gift basket with things from the Dollar
Tree: Make a spa gift basket, they sell exfoliating gloves that come in
green, pink or blue, along with some epsom salts that you can mix with
one drop of essential oil (this makes a good foot rub solution) and give

DaVinci Code Controversy
My 8th grader read the book and wants to see the movie. I have been hearing
little clips about the Davinci Code and Christianity. Any opinions on this? I am
trying to decide whether to let her watch the movie or not.

Are We More Stressed?
Our parents never did seem this stressed and all. We have definitely decided that
we worry about our childrens socialiation whereas our parents did not care as much
about ours. We also read every child/parent/family book/magazine there is and have
them in probably more activities than we did. How did they do it? Were they stressed
and we just don't remember?

How Do YOU Keep up with the Joneses?
It seems our society today is focused on keeping up with the Joneses. Even while I
think most of us here value a simple lifestyle, it's hard not to get caught up in that
mentality a little bit whether it's raising super kids and having them in lots of
activities, wanting nicer clothes/cars/houses, or whatever. What are the areas that you
PERSONALLY feel pressure to keep up? How do you handle those situations?

Parties for Less
I need help! I have 3 parties coming up soon and I don't want to spend a
fortune on them. I need ideas for everything from the cake to decorations, presents to food,
gifts to party favors and invitations. I'm thinking of having them all at my house since
it's free but where do I go from there?

Creative Kidstuff:  More on Felt Storyboards

As a former Kindergarten teacher, I have a great tip when using felt boards.
Go to a "farm supply store", I go to Fleet Farm, and ask for milk filters.
They are the BEST backing for felt pieces...the stick amazingly and are
super cheap! Just cut them out to the shape/outline of the picture and
PRESTO, instant felt board pieces!  You should GLUE them to the actual
felt pieces to permanantly adhere them to the pieces.
