"Families are like fudge... mostly sweet with a few nuts." -- Author Unknown

==============================================================

Hello!

I hope you all had a great 4th of July!  I spent the day "up north"
with family, and even ran my first 5K race!  Well, calling it running
would have been a stretch...let's just say I crossed the finish line!

Have a great week!

Kim

Money Saving Ideas:

Supermarket Tips/Tricks
I've found that things on endcaps are usually not such a good buy.
Lower priced things are way down or way up on shelves. I also found out that
clipping coupons is often no help - they're often for the premium brands.

Cleaning Lint Trap
I have no idea how many people have this problem, but even though I would
clean my lint trap out, the clothes would take FORVER to dry!  Well, I pull
the lint trap out, washed it with a toothbrush and dish soap, to clean and
clear the holes out and now I don't have any more problems!
My clothes get dry faster PLUS it is saving on our electric bill!

Thrifty Tips

Buyer Protection For Online Auction Purchases
PayPal and other programs provide buyer protection for online auctions.
This can help resolve disputes if a product isn't delivered as promised.
The problem with this protection is that it doesn't necessarily cover the
full price of your bid. Purchases are currently protected for up $1,000,
that means if you get burned buying a $2,000 computer, PayPal will only
cover half of it.

Shoe Boxes for Building Kids Blocks
Use safe shoe boxes and other similar size boxes to make large building
blocks for you kids.  Tape the lid of the box on and then cover them with
contact paper.  You can even find contact paper with a brick or wood
pattern on it.

Most Embarrassing Thrifty Moment
OK ladies, fess up! What's the most 'embarassing' frugal thing you've
done to save money? Even if it is something that borders on being 'cheap'?
The only rule: no making fun of anyone else's embarassing frugal or cheap
thing they did!!

Creative Teens
I work at a juvenile detention facility with kids who are about 13-18.
I am always looking for things to teach them and do with them. I was
wondering if you guys had any ideas. I am not very creative at all.
I like the butter idea, I think we will try that one. So, I would love
any ideas! Keep in mind they are delinquents, so no knives, explosives,
or stuff like that!

Scared of Ghosts
3 days ago my son suddenly announced that he saw a ghost in his room.
I didn't even know that he knew what a ghost was (he just turned 3).
I asked him where he had heard of ghosts and he said "Henry is scared
of ghosts." He's a Thomas train addict so I'm assuming he saw it on Thomas.
(PBS has little 5 minute Thomas segments that I let him watch). He has
talked about ghosts non stop since then. He woke up this morning at 4:45
am screaming my name...he said there were ghosts in his room. He was so
freaked out that he refused to stay in his room and never fell back asleep.
He was truly scared.

Dip cubed steaks in flour and layer them in your crockpot. (Don't salt them!)
In a small bowl, mix together one packet of onion soup mix, one packet of
brown gravy mix and two cups of water. Pour this over your meat. Cook on
