This is Kyle...I am helping Patsy by filling in for a little while, while she is busy with some other things. Spring is a season of miracles for all as the earth returns to life, but it holds a special place in my heart. Sadly, my precious son became an angel when he was only 2 days old. He passed away in the fall. The following spring, one red tulip appeared out of nowhere on my front lawn. A year later, my twin son and daughter went to join their brother among the angels. Again, they passed in the fall. And again, the following spring, one red tulip appeared, joined by two more side by side in another random spot on my front lawn. In the years ever since, I am greeted by all three every spring. They are only with me for such a brief time each year (tulips don't bloom for very long in New England), but I look forward to their visit all year long. It provides me with the strength to know they
are still with me, and I will see them again someday.
I have to admit, there are many skeptical looks when I share this story, but it really happened (and continues to happen). The funniest person I ever shared it with had to be the judge my husband and I spoke with once. Due to multiple lay-offs over the past 5 years, we have had severe financial problems and have been faced with losing our house. Although I'm sure nobody wants to lose their home, I am adamant that we cannot leave here and leave my babies behind. I don't think the judge knew what to say as I calmly explained this to him! LOL!
As spring approaches, I'm beginning to feel the excitement as I anticipate that soon I will gaze upon my precious flowers as they once again bring peace to my heart. I wish for all of you your own sense of excitement, anticipation and peace as we once again experience the "rebirth" of our world. Thank you for letting me share my story with you and have a wonderful spring!!

Gifts in a jar Recipe
Friendship Soup Mix in a Jar
1/2 cup dry split peas
1/3 cup beef bouillon granules
1/4 cup pearl barley
1/3 cup dry lentils
1/4 cup dried minced onion
2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
1/2 cup uncooked long grain rice
1/2 cup small macaroni
Additional Ingredients
1 pound ground beef
3 quarts water
1 can diced tomatoes
In a 1 1/2 pint jar, layer the first eight ingredients in order listed. Seal tightly. Yields 1 batch.
To prepare soup, carefully remove macaroni from the top & set aside.
In a large saucepan, or Dutch oven, brown beef & drain. Add the water, tomatoes & soup mix. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat, cover & simmer for 45 minutes. Add the reserved macaroni, cover & simmer for 15 to 20 minutes or until macaroni, peas, lentils & barley are tender. Yields 4 quarts.
