I love candles and always have leftover wax in the containers, so I save the wax in seperate bags by color. When I want to make a candle I melt the wax in the microwave. Then strain throught a strainer to get anything out like the old wick, etc. Then I pour into a glass jar or glass container of some sort, (even the ones some candle come in). and put in a new wick. (cost for a package $3.00) Pour and let stand to harden, then usually a well forms on the top so you want to poke a few holes and then reheat some leftover wax and pour and let harden. Looks like a brand new candle. I've even done 3 layer candles with 3 coordinating colors. As far as my getting a homemade gift. I love to receive something thats baked. For some reason food always tastes better when someone else makes it.
