Dear Patsy and Kay,
Thank you for answering my mail so quick.  When you told me of Kyle not remembering his marriage, I feel I must tell you this. At least it may give you a lot more encouragement.
My cousins husband got real sick and in the hospital too.  They had him on life support.  He was like 58.  They told his wife he was brain dead and should disconnect.  She did not and after awhile he started coming around.  He had had heart attack and a stroke.  Thank God she did not do what they asked.  At first he did not know much and could not talk at all.
Now he is home, and can walk with a walker.  Talks a blue streak.  Goes hunting, fishing, games that his daughter who is 13 plays in.  Now he has his memories back.  Miracles do happen as I can tell you.  This was truly a miracle, and I pray Kyle will do just as well.  It does take time, a few months anyway.  I hope this incident I told you about will give you all a lot of courage to " hang in there".   Just tell Kyle it takes a little while for everything to heal.

Love and prayers,
Mary,  Wahpeton, North Dakota

Hi                                                                     Don't know if you got our last email. so i thought i would send another one. We want to send our condolences on the death of your brother/uncle. We are also delighted to hear how well Kyle is doing. We read every issue of your newsletter not just to keep up with Kyle but to keep up with the world. We really appreciated your September 11, 2005 issue. It hit home for both of us, for my fiancee it hit home because his brother was in the navy at that time and we thought sure he was going to iraq. Well, all the best to you and your family. May God bless you all and continue to keep his loving arms around Kyle and bring him back home a whole person very soon. We love your newsletter please keep it coming. Guess We'll close for now.
Sincerely Yours, Tara.T and Brian.B

The Tablecloth

The brand new pastor and his wife, newly assigned to their first
ministry, to reopen a church in suburban Brooklyn, arrived in early October excited about their opportunities. When they saw their church, it was very run down and needed much work. They set a goal to have everything done in time to have their first service on Christmas Eve. They worked hard, repairing pews, plastering walls, painting, etc., and on December 18 were ahead of schedule and just about finished. On December 19 a terrible tempest - a driving rainstorm hit the area and lasted for two days. On the 21st, the pastor went over to the church. His heart sank when he saw that the roof had leaked, causing a large area of plaster about 20 feet by 8 feet to fall off the front wall of the sanctuary just behind the pulpit, beginning about head high. The pastor cleaned up the mess  on the floor, and not knowing what else to do but postpone the Christmas Eve service, headed home. On the way he noticed that a local business was having a flea market type sale for charity so he stopped in. One of the items was a beautiful, handmade, ivory colored, crocheted tablecloth with exquisite work, fine colors and a Cross embroidered right in the center. It  was just the right size to cover up the hole in the front wall. He bought it and headed back to the church.

By this time it had started to snow. An older woman running from the
opposite direction was trying to catch the bus. She missed it. The pastor invited her to wait in the warm church for the next bus 45 minutes later. She sat in a pew and paid no attention to the pastor while he got a ladder, hangers, etc., to put up the tablecloth as a wall tapestry. The pastor could hardly believe how beautiful it looked and it covered up the entire problem area.

Then he noticed the woman walking down the center aisle. Her face was
like a sheet. "Pastor," she asked, "where did you get that tablecloth?"
The pastor explained. The woman asked him to check the lower right corner to see if the initials, EBG were crocheted into it there. They were. These were the initials of the woman, and she had made this tablecloth 35 years before, in Austria. The woman could hardly believe it as the pastor told how he had just gotten the Tablecloth. The woman explained that before the war she and her husband were well-to-do people in Austria. When the Nazis came, she was forced to leave. Her husband was going  to follow her the next week. He was captured, sent to prison and never saw her husband or her home again.

The pastor wanted to give her the tablecloth; but she made the  pastor keep it for the church. The pastor insisted on driving her home, that was the least he could do.. She lived on the other side of Staten Island and was only in Brooklyn for the day for a housecleaning job.

What a wonderful service they had on Christmas Eve. The church was
almost full. The music and the spirit were great. At the end of the
service, the pastor and his wife greeted everyone at the door and many
said that they would return. One older man, whom the pastor recognized
from the neighborhood continued to sit in one of the pews and stare,
and the pastor wondered why he wasn't leaving. The man asked him where he got the tablecloth on the front wall because it was identical to one that his wife had made years ago when they lived in Austria before the war and how could there be two tablecloths so much alike.

He told the pastor how the Nazis came, how he forced his wife to flee for her safety and he was supposed to follow her, but he was arrested and put in a prison.. He never saw his wife or his home again all the 35 years in between.

The pastor asked him if he would allow him to take him for a little
ride. They drove to Staten Island and to the same house where the pastor had taken the woman three days earlier. He helped the man climb the three flights of stairs to the woman's apartment, knocked on the door and he saw the greatest Christmas reunion he could ever imagine.

When We Share Woundedness
by M. Scott Peck

How strange that we should ordinarily feel compelled to hide our wounds when we are all wounded! Community requires the ability to expose our wounds and weaknesses to our fellow creatures. It also requires the ability to be affected by the wounds of others...But even more important is the love that arises among us when we share, both ways, our woundedness.

To all of you from me:)

A Difference

A teacher in New York decided to honor each of her seniors in
high school by telling them the difference they each made. She called each student to the front of the class, one at a time. First she told each of them how they made a difference to her and the class. Then she presented each of them with a blue ribbon imprinted with gold letters, which read, "Who I Am Makes A Difference".

Afterwards the teacher decided to do a class project to see what
kind of impact recognition would have on the community. She gave each of the students three more ribbons and instructed them to go out and spread this acknowledgment ceremony. Then they were to follow up on the results, see who honored whom and report back to the class in about a week.

One of the boys in the class went to a junior executive in a nearby company and honored him for helping him with his career planning. He
gave him a blue ribbon and put it on his shirt. Then he gave him the two extra ribbons and said, "We're doing a class project on recognition, and we'd like you to go out, find somebody to honor, give them a blue ribbon, then give them the extra blue ribbon so they can acknowledge a third person to keep this acknowledgment ceremony going. Then please report back to me and tell me what happened.

Later that day the junior executive went to see his boss. Who had been noted, by the way, as being kind of a grouchy fellow. He sat his boss down and he told him that he deeply admired him for being a creative genius. The boss seemed very surprised. The junior executive asked him if he would accept the gift of the blue ribbon and would he give him permission to put it on him. His surprised boss said, "Well sure." The junior executive  took the blue ribbon and placed it right on his boss's jacket above his heart. As he gave him the last extra ribbon, he said, "Would you do me a favor? Would you take this extra ribbon and
pass it on by honoring somebody else. The young boy who first gave me the ribbons is doing a project in school and he wants to keep this recognition ceremony going and find out how it affects people."

That night the boss came home to his 14-year old son and sat him down. He said, "The most incredible thing happened to me today. I was in my
office and one of the junior executives came in and told me he admired me and gave me a blue ribbon for being a creative genius. Imagine, he thinks I'm a creative genius. Then he put this blue ribbon that says "Who I Am Makes A Difference" on my jacket above my heart. He gave me an extra ribbon and asked me to find somebody else to honor.

As I was driving home tonight, I started thinking about whom I would honor with this ribbon and I thought about you. I want to honor you. My
days are really hectic and when I come home I don't pay a lot of attention to you. Sometimes I scream at you for not getting good enough grades in school and for your bedroom being a mess, but somehow tonight, I just wanted to sit here and, well, just let you know that you do make a difference to me. Besides your mother, you are the most important person in my life. You're a great kid and I love you!" The startled boy started to sob and sob, and he wouldn't stop crying. His whole body shook. He looked up at his father and  said through his
tears, "Dad, earlier tonight I sat in my room and wrote a letter to you and Mom explaining why I killed myself and asking you to forgive me. I was going to commit suicide tonight after you were asleep. I just didn't think you cared at all. The letter is upstairs, I don't think I need it after all." His Father walked upstairs and found a heartfelt letter full of anguish and pain. The envelope was addressed, "Mom and Dad."

The boss went back to work a changed man. He was no longer a grouch but made sure to let all his employees know that they made a difference.
The junior executive helped several other young people with career planning and never forgot to let them know that they made a difference in his life....one being the boss's son. And the young boy and his classmates learned a valuable lesson. Who you are DOES make a difference.

I know you all to know that someone thinks that you are important, I do. You have shown us a lot of love & support & fun times over the years & I would be quite amiss if I didn't pass this on to all of you:)
Remember that I gave you a blue ribbon!

Be good to each other.
Love to all from Patsy & Kay xoxoxo
